In this timeline, the new world’s landmass is bigger. The Amerindians were the first to arrive on the continent and built civilizations similar to OTL, such as the Aztec and Inca, as well as civilizations unique to Earth 98, such as the Acapul and Kuscomi. The Italians (united under Milan during the 1400s) were the first Europeans to explore and settle the continent, followed by the usual suspects like Great Britain, France, the Netherlands and so on.
There are 150 states, 9 territories, and 7 autonomous regions (such as Hong Kong). There are three capitals, with the legislature being split between them; the executive and judiciary however remain in Washington DC. There are 1095 representativs, and 306 senators (Hong Kong, Westrael, and Kucsomi have senators and reps despite not being states). The president is elected via an electroal college method but with single transferable vote. The major political parties are the Democrat, Republican, Federalist, and the recently formed Liberal Democrat Party. Other regional parties include the Southern Populist, Green, Latin Workers, Christian Democrat, and Libertarian parties.
