Wait, everything is real?
Even the frame?
That's sort of a long shot...but worth a shot atleast!
Beautiful shot. The focus is amazing!

gorgeously sharp, beautiful composition. Maybe darken the highlights a little, I think some parts are a little too bright. But it's borderline. Good work!

Thank you... I can see about the brightness but this bird was WHITE!

loving the eye.
The posture is weird, but in a really cool way.

This is really a magnificent shot. You did a great job getting so close and the exposure...well, that's the "trick" I think: The background was whitish/snow but you exposed properly by spot metering off the bird plumage, and thus creating excellent highlights without loosing the bird feather detail. In any case, excellent shot.
A be careful with that 200mm f/2.8L or pretty soon you'll find yourself with a 400mm f/5.6L, or even worse(for your bank account that is)...a 500mm f/4L IS!

Such a stunning shot. I just love the texture on the beak. A very remarkable bird. As for the trick, I'm thinking you focused on the eye and/or beak, used DOF to blur out the background and possibly something to do with your f stop? Hmm, I think you've got us stumped.. Fantastic shot.

Could it be that the background is part of the trick? Perhaps sand or the sky?

Stunning shot of a gorgeous creature.
Perhaps the eye? Either way, doesn't matter.
Great detail in the feathers and beak.
200/2.8L?

Fantastic lens, eh? Mine was the one that sucked me into the L-habit (although I only have it and the 24-70/2.8).
But I definitely understand now...

That it is.
It's my walk-around lens. It's on my camera at least 80% of the time.

great shot!
maybe the sharp black in it's eye is PS? hmm.... or maybe there were some other things around in the frame and you healed them out with PS (caused the black spots above and under the beak)?
r u sure there is a trick here?!
