The only criticism I would make is that the background appears to favour one side over the other. In keeping with the eastern theme, if you were to use a red background or something more neutral (an earth tone, perhaps, or even a middle grey) it might provide equal weight to both aspects.

I'm just going by the fact that in Chinese philosophy, they do favor the yang, male, side over the yin (it's a male world). And by the fact that most yin yang symbol representations found in China usually have solid white background.
Technically speaking, nothing is neutral in Daoism, it's either yin or yang (with a hint of the other).

Cool
I'm trying to do this shot again now, but with hard light this time.

Hm. One light? You could have it directly overhead with a gridded reflector and create a spotlight. Enough of the light should bounce back up off your white backdrop to partially fill in the cast shadows that way.

Well, one main light, with a reflector as fill, and one light for background. Was thinking of having the light up high, and slightly to the side. I'll have to play around with it and see, but I'm aiming to show moreΒ  texture in the paper.

Hello my friend, long time no see (wait, you were Manual Focus photo right? ).

I absolutely love this photo, and your creativity in interpreting yin-yang symbol.

Thank you for this beautiful present.

I like not only the execution but the idea too. Making both swans black&white was a nice touch instead of having one black and one white.

One other thing I like is the reflection, it's like a parallel world within the already yin-yang universe.

Again, thank you very much for the present, I absolutely adore it, especially since it holds a deeper meaning than the regular yin-yang idea, but that's only for us two to understand.

I'm so glad you like it

Yeah, I was going off the actual yin yang philosophy and symbol: the black has a hint of white, and the white has a hint of black...nothing is 100% pure or 100% corrupted. Hence, black swan with a hint of white, and white swan with a hint of black.

Oh, that's for us to know, and for others to guess
