Speed Painting Challenge #10: Free Drawing. Make something awesome!
Time: 1 hour 35 min. Most of the drawing was done by one hour, but special background effects took 35 min, because my first attempt at a background didnt pan out too well.

For this last challenge I wanted to use ALL ZE COLORS with a dynamic pose, because it would be a "test" to see what I've learned from the previous 9 speed drawings. Plus I've been meaning to do a rainbow picture for a while now.....

I dont think I could have EVER drawn this amount of a rainbowness in less than 2 hours. So yes, I have definitely sped up. and mixing colors got faster because instead of "hmmm should I mix x with y" became "Just mix, you'll know if it's right or not." there are a few things I do not like about this picture, mostly the legs, but I can live with it for now....>_>

Actually, I had done a practice run prior to this picture....and made the mistake of using black instead of sticking with mixing colors. Kids....do not use black if you can AT ALL help it when drawing rainbows. It kills the bright colors. Literally suffocates it with a painful antagonizing death... D: Heres the awfulness in all of it's horrible disgrace (can you tell I dislike this picture with a passion yet?): RainbowMuse

I learned sooooooo much from these 10 challenges. Plus it was fun! Speed Painting Challenge #6 was a great little reminder that I am more than capable now of doing "dynamic" or action poses....than what I thought I was. That being said, for future practice I want to do more dynamic poses and just have fun with foreshortening. Also all these practices reminded me a lot of the advice my art professors gave to me when I was in college. i.e. Dont use black (see previous paragraph) when you can use Ultramarine blue and Burnt Umber, If your clouds look like turds...you need to look at a reference, dont over work a painting...overworking a painting kills it every time, squint to check for problems in a picture, and so on and so forth.
