well flowers look a bit like some from boraginaceae or scrophulariaceae family, so if you have some database with photos, try these two families. inflorescence reminds me of verbena though, so you might even wanna look into that one too.

for that, you need a living plant and a good key to determine it. in europe, we only have one native species.

It's North American. I think a prairie wildflower since it was in a prairie restoration garden. The garden in question is in Indiana.

if it's a garden, than it's doubtful if it's a native or imported species. sure it'd help if i had a shot of the whole plant and leaves.
