Ah, the on thing I must point out is that the hands do not look attached at all. If you moved them a little up so they're covering more of the guitar neck it would look more realistic. Also, their elbos and a little bit of their arms should be showing.
As for backgrounds textures and adding just a little bit of text do wonders! Even a simple bright background with a few swirls can work. I find all my textures here - [link]
There are several tutorials on shading, just search deviant art and I'm sure you'll find several wonderful ones.

Okay, thanks! I knew the hands looked kind of weird, but I couldn't figure out what the problem was. So thanks for pointing that out!
And thanks for the tips for backgrounds and shading. Those are the two most difficult things for me, so I'm sure that'll help me a lot
