Description I can't decide which way around I prefer.
The top one is my favourite (I think) as the parent looks as if it's standing in the rain and allowing the baby to remain sheltered.

The lower one (the original) shows off more scenery, but has the opposite look of the baby being out in the rain (neither of them are actually exposed to the rain)

This, by the way, is a WIP of a new Fentil piece that I'm working on. It's showing a parent Liteye (name for Dorsoplacates with photophores (a corruption of 'light-eye')) feeding its baby through one of its mouth tubes.
During parenthood, one of the tubes loses its razor-sharp coring edge, allowing the baby to safely insert its own tube and feed on pre-digested meat which the parent regurgitates, as both mouths lead to the same stomach.
Unfortunately for the parent, this is the time when the baby's coring edge is developing, leading to some unpleasant scratches far worse than any breast-feeding baby's bite.

I've noticed that, so far, I've only really portrayed these creatures as doting parents, which they are , and not the ferocious killers they also are.
That time will come.

I love it, especially the depth provided by the tile-tops. Can't wait to see the finished product .

The one where the calf is closer to the tree - it looks like she's trying to stay dry

I don't know which one I prefer either, but the scene itself is sweet; I like seeing people's aliens being all... maternal and cute and shit.
