There actually *are* quite a lot of good FF. Either on FF.net or on AO3
I'd hate to spoil you if you haven't read all the books yet so I'll just give you the link to AO3 and let you choose the fanfics to your discretion.

*sigh* Laurence and Tharkay are my favorite pairing too. Especially now that Jane has had to put distance between herself and Laurence, both literally and politically, our boy needs someone to lean on.

Yeah. I was sad to see Jane go though, but she had she reasons. I actually liked her even more when she chose duty over Laurence.

I totally agree with you about Jane, I was actually proud of her (and Naomi Novik, of course!) for how she handled the situation, which must have been horrible for her. But she has be a leader for the Corps, and defending a nation leaves no room for sentimentality.
Oh, how I wish I could write fan fiction. I would be wallowing in the slashiness of it all. Laurence and Tharkay and Granby, oh my!
