The relationship between Betelgeuse and Lydia was my favorite thing about the film. I especially enjoyed his attempt to marry her at the climax: I like to imagine that Betelgeuse was literally the Beast (Biblical one) and that Lydia was meant to be the mother of the Antichrist; I have the same fan theory about The Joker and Vicki Vale in BATMAN. I don't mean to be sacrilegious. It's just that as I've gotten older I've come to view Tim Burton movies as more silly than creepy, and slipping some religious allegory into them makes them scary again. I think you could interpret B.'s posture and body language in this cartoon as satanic.
