so true, there are too many people that are to busy throwing the bible in others faces where they become blind show gods love with kindness, patience, and love.Β

I have seen time and again where people who were otherwise indifferent or perhaps even hostile to the Gospel, nonetheless responded positively and gratefully to sincere demonstrations of love and displays of interest in their well-being.

Amen to this actually. When Christ came, He did not rant at those who were in sin, He went out and tried to HELP them. The only people He really got angry at were the Pharisees, a.k.a. the hypocrites, the people who preach but don't practice, who fush about the sinners but refuse to see their own problems (the old "splinter and wooden beam in the eyes" imagery).

Yes, that's true. I think it's all too rare that we actually consider how Jesus actually really acted while on earth, and really seriously think about what He would do. So many people walk around with a WWJD bracelet - but how often do we really stop and think what it means? I know I hardly ever think about what it stands for!!!

I LOVE this! This is exactly as I feel about it. Words alone do not convert, especially harsh ones. It is in the LOVING actions of followers that lead wayward souls to Christ. God bless you my friend! Keep up the good work!

I still have issues with how some people reject both hope and judgment, but I agree that the love of God, and the hope we have through that, should be the core of our message to the world. Very insightful.

Haha, very true. I find that much of what Jesus says in the Gospels has just the right amount of both. For example, the oft quoted (and, considering it's my signature, acceptably so) John 3:16-17 is a good example. I think it's important that we warn without overemphasizing, which, as you said, can be detrimental to people's understanding and acceptance of 'Christianity'.

True!! It's hard finding the right balance, but it's important that we do. Overemphasis on either side can in the end be negative.

And I think it also depends on who we're talking to. To some people, I sometimes feel like quoting "Do not be fooled, God cannot be mocked" and for others "Come to me all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."

Very true. I think it's brilliant how God uses different messages to reach out to people. Like I read a book that mentioned how people came to him from Islam because he appeared in visions, and Islamic culture has a big sort of thing with visions. And another one from the same book about how someone learned of the love of Christ without knowing the concept of sin, but felt that real truth.

Often those are the best. What's that verse about the Word of God, 'sharper than any doulbe-edged sword'? Very fitting.
