This is a portrait of my son, Isaac. He was 4 years old in this picture so it's a couple of years old. His preschool teacher, Ms. Bless, took this photo of him and I fell in love with it. This is the final drawing to complete my 48 page portfolio. It took me 4 pain staking years and I couldn't have been more pleased with myself. This portfolio will be a gift for my son when he's older.I do plan on starting a new portfolio, but I'm aiming for next year. Hopefully there will be many more portfolios to come.

I know I'd be proud, but...my mom wouldn't have ever done that because she likes to pretend she can't draw and tell me I have no artistic ability.

Oh, don't let your mom get to you. My mother did the same thing. When I first started drawing-- granted they were really bad though they were pretty good for never drawing before. She would stand over my shoulder and tell me what a horrendous job I'm doing, wasting my time, and say how people go to school and study for years to become a great artist. Hm... challenge accepted, mom. That was 8 years ago. She didn't know I kept drawing all these years and I finally showed her my portfolio last year and she was surprised. Both her and my father didn't even know and now that's like the thing they're most proud of. They show everyone my artwork. So you prove her wrong-- it feels pretty damn good.

I've stopped letting them get to me and now that they have seen some of my more elaborate drawings they think that I am good. Once I got older I stopped caring that she thinks I need to just not draw, everyone starts at the bottom so why should I quit. That's really awesome! And, I am working on proving them wrong and moving towards my goal of tattooing. Every time I have proved them wrong, I have felt pretty good (:
