A sunken pirate ship lies on the seabed in shallow water. As sharks and fish circle the wreck, a giant octopus emerges from a massive hole in the side of the hull to welcome you to his new home in these dangerous waters.
It's always a lot of fun to create these undersea scenes. This particular one was inspired by the fish tank in the office where I work. Though it doesn't have an octopus, it has a serpent sea star which sort of resembles one.
To create this image, I used a variety of digital tools including 3D rendering, virtual sculpting and digital painting.

The Kraken

Damn the reef really did a number on that ship! And those sized critters in that depth water is pretty terrifying XD I love underwater scenes (though I find they take forever to render, perhaps I'm doing something wrong with lights, also I hate drawing them for the same lighting reason XD). Nice work

This is amazing. Underwater scenes are really difficult, but you've managed to get the lighting and the overhead water surface and the bubbles spot on.
