Yesss, I remember the first I heard of them was this one horror story forever ago, I think it was in one of the 'Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark' (love those <3) The idea always stuck with me

They seem to be one of those cryptids that everyone has seen somewhere and knows at least the name of, but can never place where they learned about it. I think the one I read was something about some guys travelling in the woods when one of their party members wandered off and got dragged away? Idk, I might be blending stories here X3

That's actually a pretty good way to describe it! XD The one I read had the wendigo be the main character's friend, who disappeared and reappeared only to kill another friend out of jealousy and almost her. It was pretty gory now that I remember...

Yeah, I'd definitely want to read that :3 And Until Dawn was a very interesting concept, but the execution was iffy. The lore and such was pretty spot on, but the appearance was a waste. Oversize vamp Golume was not what I was hoping for :/

Guess that was their interpretation of it. I expected antlers like the ones in your drawing, but it seems they were more interested in the horror aspect. Oh well, at least they researched the lore well.

A more legitimate looking Windigo would have been horrifying, (in my opinion at least) especially with the full animation. We've just seen too many zombies and such for their versions to be all that new or frightening. But yeah, the accuracy was nice. The disembodied Windigo spirits were implemented especially well, I was impressed.

Oh yeah! The Windigo spirits caught my eye, it was really interesting to see a visual of them, especially since I'm used to only reading about them in stories.Β

Speaking of wendigos, what did you think of the interpretation in Until Dawn?

*Much internal screaming* Until Dawn was sort of a mix for me, they did a brilliant job with the imitation of voices and such, the lore overall seemed pretty dang accurate. BUT, I was definitely disappointed in their appearance. They looked more like some sort of twisted vampire, I 100% prefer full Wendigo skull, antler, bone and fur monster. Honestly missed out on a much more horrifying antagonistΒ

That would have been great! Would have added a lot more to the game as well, originality and horror wise.
