Description Art work by

Coloring and Background by Me.

Changelog

Using the referance picture I was given I made the following modifications

(Character):
-Added Spring Blurr Edge Camo smock (looking closer at the referance picture I realized it was not oak leaf but blurr edge [link] & [link]
-Added Spring oak leaf helmet cover (same as blurr edge but with vector line art and no blurr tool used)
-Added Dot 44 Erbsentarn Camo Pants
-Added WSS collar insignia and rank
-Added Gaitors and Low boots
-Added Mg gunners box sewing and bolts
-Added sewing on Pistol holster
-corrected y straps to late war ones (sewing on outside & backstraps for a-frame)
-Added Charcoal smears to Mg gunners face
-added hair lighting and shadow (not so happy with that result)
-added battleworn mud effects on gaitors as well as knee's and elbows

That sums up the character

Background:

-added mg bunker (colored in using my own referance pic [link]
-added trenches
-added smoke
-added clouds
-added grass
-added dirt to mg42

~Thats about it~

Nothing like a little friendly competition:

Previously had colored this in, so I was rather detterred to finish this.. I was like meh.. its already colored why bother. Yet I got renewed inspiration and continued.
I have to say I like his version cause it looks like it was colored more naturally.. as if it was part of the paper.. and thats legit.
his version is here [link]

Side note: a backgrounless version is in the works Chirikitsu so sit tight, just gotta remove some of the ground shadows and such
okay [link] its done

i like this since it has tons of details, my only complaint is that the MG42 is a bit too short. it was about 45in durung ww2. other than that, it looks great!

Thank you, and I agree, the 42 sure is quite small, but oh well~

Coming directly from a WWII German uniforms lover!
Love the mud and battle worn effect, something I keep forgetting when I color.

ha ha, yes its always a time consuming process yet it looks hella nice, btw do you have any ideas which parts of the mg42 get paint stripped by the beat of the barrel? I couldnt quiet get it too look right so I removed it

It should be on the spots around the muzzle since those are always exposed to the heat, maybe around the ventilation holes as well.

No problem, you can still make your own research to see if it would wear out that way.

hmm speaking of heat, I just thought.. did mg42 gunners wear gloves? I'm assuming those barrels would be red hot.. and during barrel changes one would risk burning themselves.. makes me wonder

Asbestos mitten were used by assistant gunners to change barrels, saw those been used in some scenes from "the Pacific" by the USMC.
