Description The croquis I made on my 5 months of art school. Why did I quit? Or, the question is more; why won´t I start a new one?

This is what I want to do.

You are still young. If you practice constantly you'll get better no matter what. School is just school. If you have discipline you can do you learn anything. Hang around other artists too.

Yeah, that is true. What you get by going to an art school, though, is time. Also good access to material and croquis sessions. Another thing is that you might be forced to do some things that you think you don´t need, when really; you do. But most important is the time.

At least where I live there are cheap croquis around. A group of artists just need to get a location and split the price of a model. I haven't actually gone to the nearby one because I still suck but its there.

You can practice and make money doing commissions or finding freelance work. There are people with less skill that do that already.

I have a book on writing that says you have to find work doing writing if you want to get really good. Its the only way you'll ever be able to spend the time to get there. That probably applies to anything that takes a long time to get good at.

If you hang around other artists you'll get to learn stuff from them and get their habits. You don't have to go to school to do that.

Anyway, random advice.

I have found nothing so far :/ I think I´m going ask around, though. Maybe I can start a group. A non-formal kind where the members can take turns being the model.

If you feel that you suck, that is all the more reason to practice

I should probably hang around other people more in any case... I´m a bit of a loner. I just never feel that I have the time

The stories I've heard about fantasy and comic book artists breaking into the industry involve networking. So you'll have to get used to meeting new people too. In fantasy and comic art you have to bring portfolio to conventions. Post your work to message boards too. I know of a few people that do that pretty constantly.

Being successful and improving yourself is a lot of work.

There is only so much time in the day. I've stopped watching as much tv. I still use the internet to much though.

Hehe, yeah. I never watch TV. I usually don´t own one, but the other people where I live now do. Now I´ll get stuck there from time to time but not for long. The computer is a different story. I should have a daily amount of allowed computer time. Like a kid.

The problem is; when I do take a break from the studies I am so, so tired. I tried forcing myself to make a couple of drawings anyway yesterday and they looked like shit, and I´m not just saying so

You should figure out how much free time you actually have. You could save a early hour for drawing.

I'm just a beginner all the stuff I make isn't good. I know that I have to keep practicing to get better. I have to get into the habit of practicing to improve. Doesn't happen magically while you are sleeping.

They talk about that commonly with writing too. People get to write a lot of bad stuff before getting good.

Yeah. I´m going to try just writing, drawing, painting whenever and whatever. That´s how you learn.

You should start a new one. You have skills and it'd be sad to lose them and not develop them.

I want to, but it is expensive to do just for fun and I don´t know if I dare to really go fot it seriously.
