"I wish I'd died instead of her"
...so you'd know who'd come to your funeral?!?!
a) how do you know you'd know who'd be there? you'd be dead...
and
b) that is the most selfish reason for wishing you died instead of someone else...

You'll die someday.
Death is a great equalizer.
Funerals are for the living anyway.

i don't keep in touch with the majority of the people that i think would come.. i just hope that when i die, my family is able to get ahold of all my friends and let them know what happened.

Slightly unrelated to the deviation, but concerning funerals and funerary rites...
I think they're necessary for some people to mourn. It may not be what everyone needs or what is right for every family, but I've seen how some funerals affect people and its strong.
To the secret-teller:
I've heard this idea with wedding planning, but it could apply to any large ceremonial gathering where you needed a "guest list". The people you invite to a wedding (or similar event) are supposed to be the same people who would come to your funeral if you died. So if you've had a big party recently, including friends, family, coworkers... incorporating all these different people you know, I think you would find out. People love you. It may sound cliche, but its true. Take care.

I've wondered that once. You just need to show your hurting and you'll be amazed at the people who will come to help.

To be honest, I'm not sure there would be anyone at my funeral. . . I don't think I would really want one either, not the formal way they are.

i've wondered that too, but there's no SURE way that you'd be able to know who was there. the afterlife is a mystery.
