I would die without books, that's why I write my own

up until this year, I lived completely in books.
now that I'm in college, I don't have as much time. but I'd still rather read than attempt to socialize.

Books are wonderful. They are safe. The only time's the main characters die are Gandalf in Lord of the Rings, Dumbldor in Harry Potter, and Yoda, Qui-gon, Chewbacca, Anakin Solo, and Jacen Solo in Star Wars. You can learn more from books than you can from people, classes. I'm Catholic, have Religion class every day, go to church every Sunday, and I still learn more about morality and Right + wrong from books than I do from life. It's actually kind of frustrating :/

Books are the only things keeping me sane through my bouts of depression. I love the escape. <3 Keep the books, they're the nicest escape in the world.

You remind me of a character I've written about. I don't think she feels safe either, or at least not brave enough to go out and adventure like the people she reads about.

She ended up being the most brave of any of my characters.

Don't be afraid of what could be out there. It's rather tough, but there's always something else worth experiencing.

Well at least you've found a good escape as opposed to something less educational and safe, books are a good, healthy way to keep your mind off other things aswell.

I live in a house of avid readers (theres 5 of us) and I have to admit reading seems to chill us out apart from when were reading the same book all at once

I wish I was able to find books that kept me safe...
I never feel safe...
I want to feel safe sooo badly...
I do things to see if any one will care. to see if any one will keep me safe
or stop me from doing it...
They don't...

Escaping into a good book every now and then is good for you, ST. n.n As long as it's not stopping you from living your life the way you want. *Nods*

Then again, maybe you should tell whoever's asking you? Maybe they can show you another way to feel safe and happy. n.n

I completley agree.. books are like sanctuary for me. It let you be a completley different person, and not the person you really are. Helps you get through things.

Oh ST, I know what you mean. Sometimes it's easier to live in an imaginary world than the real one.
Be brave ST.

I honestly do not think that I would have survived school if it were not for books. I ended up getting to a point where I could wander the halls and go in and out of the library without a pass during break just because every teacher knew that I was just looking for a quiet place to be away from people and read. That safety that I felt in those fantasy worlds, on those distant planets, far in the past or in blood drenched horror is probably one of the reasons that I do what I do now (writing and drawing my own stories and comics/graphic novels).

It is okay to find sanctuary between the pages of a book. It's more common then you would think.

I can't help but agree with this secret... these past few years at highschool I found out I've been reading less because I have more friends, not because I have less time to do so, and that makes me happy in middle school I would bearly talk to other students, mainly becauses of shyness, but also because it was a place I didn't fir in, and didn't feel "right" there so books where a way to escape into a place of my own... and now I'm fitting in more so I don't really "need" them as much I used to.

I REALLY like this one. Books are like a sanctuary where there's a solution to just about everyone problem. If there isn't then the character finds a way to "grin and bear it." 9999/5 stars
