at first glance this seems a run-of-the-mill flower shot.
but it doesn;t take long to see that the softness this shot conveys in the petals is astounding. that is so hard to capture, the sense of softness.
thank you.

yes it's impressive to capture the essence of a flower with the camera, especially w/o any processing. i agree, flowers -- and all nature -- are awe-inspiring. no camera or image can truly recreate one, but you have come so close.
there isn't enough place in art for flowers anymore, they've become -- largely in recent decades and increasingly it seems each day due to the overexposure of advertising in addition to the countless love writings and drawings over the centuries alluding to flowers -- only symbols for other things, most notably in the "art world" for anything referencing genitalia or the physical act of love. which is good, symbols are good. one only need watch "Adaptation" to know that even in popular art that is good. but to appreciate the flower in and of itself, without reference to anything but its own aesthetic, is almost lost on anyone except a child. and that is a shame. it would be easy to get into a philosophical discussion, quoting Barthes and Sontag and many others, on how photography has changed how we see things, and on how perhaps it is impossible not to see any thing without thinking or feeling or remembering or imagining some other thing . . . in the end to see a flower as only a flower, without even thinking or recognizing its function in the natural world -- perhaps is best described as a spiritual occurence. all i know is when it happens to me i smile.
peace
