Description "The power packs began to hum ominously. Ice began to fall away from the Warriors' helmets. The cruel eye-pieces began to flicker with light, and the great gauntleted hands twitched into life. Looming over Victoria, the creatures inside the ice strove to break out - almost like dragon-men from monstrous frozen eggs, she thought. Frightened yet fascinated, she looked on as, slowly but surely, the Ice Warriors returned to life..." - from Doctor Who and The Ice Warriors novelised by Brian Hayles.

So they're back! After nearly 40 years, the mighty reptillian Martians have returned to Doctor Who, looking - I think - better than ever.
The Ice Warriors are one of my favourite monsters and I desperately wanted to do something with the new Ice Warrior design, and thought I may as well go back and revisit their very first appearance in the programme in 1967 (and yes, this image is based on the book cover for the Target novelisation to an extent).

I kind of wish they'd found some way to update their 'lego hands'. That's the only complaint I have with the New Ice Warriors look.

Still at least they were treated with respect, unlike sadly a lot of classic Who's villains have been recently.

Yeah, I miss the clamps too, but overall it's a pretty perfect redesign.
It's a shame that so much of the episode was wasted with the Ice Warrior scurrying around naked and acting like a wannabe-Xenomorph.

That looks absolutely brilliant!!
Thought the voice was a little bit off, nothing like the classic ones, but a great episode all the same.

Thank you very muchly
I was a bit miffed that we only really had the Ice Warrior at the beginning and the end of the episode. I was watching it thinking "Come on guys, if you wanted to do a version of Alien, then Ice Warriors were totally the wrong monster to go with"...
... but I'm glad they're back at least

No Probs
ye its a little bit annoying, paying all that money for an ice warrior prop and there isn't that much time its shown on screen. But now they have it hopefully they will bring it back again.
Can't wait to see the Zygons at work, two of my most favourite classic monsters

are you going to make them outside of they're armor too?

Well, they weren't ever outside their armour in the classic series, so not in one of my Target works at any rate...
... I never say never, but I think they work better in the armour.

This is brilliant! So glad they're back looking forward to seeing them in action. Love your remasted take on their first appearance let's hope they scare people as much as they did poor Victoria!

Thanks for the kind words
I'd give the episode a 7/10. Needed more Warrior action... Still, if there are more to come in the future, then that'd be good!
