Description
A long overdue full color commission forIt took me forever to get started on the fur painting xD I still get petrified by the thought of painting... But I hope this is a step in the right direction. (Please ignore the mountains, I still don't know how to paint those xD)

You obviously put a lot of effort into this piece, especially with the fur. However, I feel like the whole thing looks quite flat. Maybe a greater use of shades and tones would help. The two areas that I think would really help this piece pop are: one, the area around the bird; it seems to be sort of glowing, so having that glowing light on the face and hand and a little on the chest would look wonderful. The second area that could benefit from some nice dark colors are the shadows around his feet. His lovely feet get quite lost in the darkness and detail of the rock around them, so putting some very dark shadows around them would help, I think.
Overall, I do think it's a very nice piece. The composition is great, and I love the contrast of the bird against the dark backdrop.

First off, thank you for your comment and your critique. However, here's the thing: I have three screens and it looks different on each of them xD On my main monitor it looks pretty well balanced and has a nice range of light and dark, in fact the darkest parts look almost black on my screen.
I can only go by what my own eyes tell me. So either your or my screen need some calibration at some point... but I really put a lot of effort into the things that you actually mentioned.

I never even thought of that. I'm a pretty low-quality laptop, so that definitely may be the issue.

Yeah, laptops are notorious for bad screens sadly :/ I know that from experience!
