Description In straight edge culture it is hard to get by ... I find that a bottle of Jack after a long day of being straight edge helps calm my nerves ...

Hey there!
Was just hunting (no pun intended) and I saw this and I love it! Very powerful and strong.
How did you take this photo if you don't mind me asking (ie aperature, shutter speed etc)? Has this been digitally enhanced?

I took the photo using a small home 'studio' [link]

I did not record my aperture and shutter speed etc. I tend to underexpose things and then bring them up in post with curves and levels to get darker shadows, while retaining the brightness of the subject.

Really glad you like it!

Great work on the PP. Indeed it does make a world of difference, providing you aren't an in camera nazi

Loving all your still life work. What did you use to light it? And did you shoot in RAW? If I may be so bold to ask

That is my awesome studio!

I do not shoot in RAW. I have a Canon 10D. I tend to underexpose my shots to get deeper shadows and then fix the exposure in post.

Ahh I have heard a few people mention they underexposure and work the highlights in PP.

Many thanks for the insight

I love the colour did you use any filter's ?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

diagon In reply to tekno-munky [2007-04-23 18:07:17 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! No camera filters, but I did adjust curves and levels in post. I have recently found that post can make a world of difference in digital photography. Curves and levels are amazing tools that bring a lot of control back to digital photography that gets lost without a development process.

cool to find you outside PH
did you won with it??
Really like the picture by the way...
especially what the bottle's laying on, that rough
surface makes the bottle stand out in a good way

The bottle is laying on an old T-Shirt.

Thanks for the comment.

This is an amazing shot -- it could be used in modern advertising and graphic designing with the light focus and dark edges. Great shot.

Why did you choose to be Straight Edge?

the word for photohunt was apostasy .... which is turning away from your faith or convictions ... nothing like a straightedge downing a bottle of jack to illustrate that
