Description My second piece for the art class I'm taking. Sorry it took me so long to post it. I'm lazy. This is just a gazebo in my yard, seen through the iron rod gates. The assignment was a landscape, obviously.

I like how this came out, and it wasn't as hard as it seemed when I first started. All those little branches and leaves were actually really easy, they were just repetitive, like a pattern. My dad is in love with this piece. He wants to frame it because he's obsessed with his gazebo. I should charge him money.

Can tortillion blend other than Charcoal? I meant, Oil pastels will do?

To add to the string of unhelpful praise, I love this picture. I just want to open up the gate and go sit down inside. It just looks very ... comfortable. And peaceful.

(And you should definitely start posting from your sketchpad!)

*slaps her own forehead* Boy that came out wrong. Not... that everyone else's comments were unhelpful, because they weren't. My comments just tend to be unhelpful. I'm pretty much going to stop trying to make sense now.

Very nice.

Teeheehee! You deserve payment for work like this! It's amazzzzing! Beautiful. This is one of those pics that you come across now and then that makes you stop and really stare.

Wow, you need to let me in on how you did those trees.

diamondscan In reply to Bluetrin [2004-03-05 02:56:36 +0000 UTC]

I just put down a base gray, smoothed it. Used a paper stencil to add tons of leaves, then used vine charcoal and erasers for light and dark branches. They were simple, really.

This is incredible. Traditional art like this is so difficult and your detail is amazing. I have no idea how you did this. I really love the upper right area...it's amazing. I'm sorry this comment sucks, the piece is just too great. I'm really stunned at your talent.

This is really good, you really get the detail down really well. (Especially that snow on the iron gates.)

And you have a gazebo in your yard? I'm jealous.
