My buddy Brian actually took the time to design, build and fly a large scale RC FA Fand 2 (it's about 5'x8'). He's been working on the damned thing since Fall of 2012 and is now on his 9th proto-type. He tells me that finding the center or mass on this plane design is very hard because of double layered design, and I believe him; I fly and build RC planes to but I'm not that obsessed with that particular plane, even though it's a fantastic design. The only problem with his Fand 2 is actually manipulating the control surfaces to do all the neat things in the anime film. I and about 20+ other RC plane pilots witnessed only one stunt where the plane made a once thought to be impossible turn for a an RC plane to rotate and turn 180 while convexing it's four trailing wings... it made the turn but the wind force was so great the two of the four foam wings snapped off the plane, it fell from the sky belly flopping into a thousand pieces. The cause was from the EDF pushing at full power while it was making that amazing turn; now he knows to cut the EDF power off if he tries that stunt again... hopefully it's a successful turn with at least minimal damage.
Your version of the Fand 2 is pretty neat! Although having swept back and forward swept wings at the same time would seem to put unnessary stress on the body if you were to make it... my buddy has tried many variations for the wings of the Fand 2... and from what he's learn... the swept forward wings like in the anime film don't work too well despite the fact that it looks cool. It's either straight short wings or medium long swept back wings. Forward swept wings don't work for RC model planes... the just snap off every single time; especially at high speeds.
As for me, I fly a custom built FFR-31 Sylphid Mk. 3, my buddy modeled and cut the foam, carbon fiber and aluminum super structure parts for me, I built it and gave it life using twin TF 8000 EDF jet fans, two Lehner 3060-10 motors, two ESC Schulze 40/160, 24s2p 5200HDHE at 200A... the whole plane weighs about 15,8kg, the jet thrust is at about 28 pounds per square foot (calc estimate) x2 so that's roughly 56lbs of thrust produced between each jet (more than enough flight power). Cruise flights are at 45 mph and range from 18-20 minutes... and high speed flights are at 80-90+mph and last about 5 minutes. This thing is a beast, the external camera was blown off the fuselage on the 4th try; i had to install it inside the cockpit under a plastic canopy after that. the plane can reach over 90+ mph (based on the last laser scan)! And I have a tendency to lose my sights on it quickly thus the reason the wireless camera is installed and I have a mini-monitor on top of my controller that can reach 20 miles in distance. xD LMAO I've been arrested twice for flying it between city buildings downtown (bailed out) and put in jail for 90 days once because I flew it over traffic during rush hour on a highway where many people called the police and complained. I crashed the Mk. 1 straight into the ground after stripping the gears on the elevator servo and Mk. 2 died because I lost my field of view and it crashed into a parked empty camo green colored camper (like really!?) that was behind a tree that I was dodging. I think I need more camera's... xD Thankfully NO ONE has gotten hurt!! To give you an idea where all this usually takes place, it's in Philadelphia, PA... if you visit the city and see a small fast RC jet... that's me, just follow the police sirens and you'll meet me. XD LMAO

OOooooo!!! These would look good flying around in flight sims. Oh and I still have your J-14 modeled and cleaned up also. Mind if I can take a gander at these as well? :3

Well, that's what F/A-37 is, a further development of Swithcblade design... maybe someday i'll do the original too, but for now i have other fighters started like J-20 and J-31, the Aurora and i want to redo my Da-37!
