I believe I used a piece of cheesecloth along with gesso and acrylic for the background. Thank you, I really appreciate your comment.

Thanks - it's inspired me.  I used some cheesecloth on a canvas too.  Currently working on it.  It's an abstract - kinda let the image draw forth from the folds I saw in the cheesecloth.
