A disturbance in paradise ? This is quite an interesting variation on your theme : the girl looks as dreamy as ever, but the striking contrast created by the sharp ends of her hair brings an added edge to the picture. Indeed, the air of languid (and ever so slightly anxious) expectancy which pervades your female portraits is now disrupted by something decidedly darker and more clearly threatening. Disturbingly, the spikes at first seem to sprout directly from her back, emphasising the vulnerability of her naked skin, and even with the illusion dispelled, they retain the fierce appearance of a defense mechanism. A strong piece, which lends itself to multiple interpretations.
