Description Just a little something out of the norm for me. I decided to do something a little different besides doing terragen. I did a little manip with stock photos instead of using a terragen landscape. I think it turned out pretty well, and achieved the sort of mood I was going for. I hope you enjoy it.

That looks very cool indeed. I always love images of regular landscapes with massive planets hovering in the sky.

My only critique for this one is the contrast between the land and the manipulation. The plantary aspect is so soft, and the land area is at such a high contrast. If even a little tint of the same blue in the planet were added to the photographic area, I think this piece would look even better.

But I'm faving it anyway

it's absolutely beautiful. Isn't Utopia a moon for a planet? Oh well either way it's beautiful!

I like the mix of a photo and picture. The people on the beach make the scene much a more believable.

Hello. I think your way of creating planets is wonderful and even in this picture I cannot say that I don't like what you do. The colours are used splendidly and it seems that the stars almost move on their own around in the clear nightly cosmos you depicted so glamourously.
However... when I first looked at it I thought that it was somehow odd, this picture you did. I couldn't really put my finger on it until I took a closer look at it and then I finally realized: in the top part you depicted a nightly sky while in the lower one there is plain daylight. I came to realize that what otherwise would have been a truly wonderful display of your efforts became something that quickly descended into kitsch because of this contradiction. The picture is beautiful - but this, should I call it mistake(?), somewhat destroys it for me.

Maybe it's because I think that with every fantastic art some part of it must remain within the borders of the realistic and conceivable. Otherwise it will lose it's credibility and respect and will slowly drift to hilarity or non-acceptance by the human mind. Hence it becomes kitschy. However, how far an artist can go and how much he can stress the borders of reality or maintain them is up to the arist herself/herself and finally it's also up to the viewer as to how far his acceptance of the displayed art goes. Mine for example does simply not go as far as the confusion of daylight and nighttime.
So this is my point and these are my thoughts.
Do with them what you wish.

Yours
Sythiar

Utopia

Ella esta en el horizonte, me acarco dos pasos y ella se aleja
dos pasos. camino diez pasos y el horizonte se corre diez pasos
mas alla. por mucho que yo camine, nunca la alcanzare.

intriguing concept - i like muchly

just a thought, it'd be interesting if there were no clouds, if as soon as the water ended the space-scape began. Might make it a little more other-worldly if that's what you're shooting for.

Wow, looks incredible. Detail on the nebula and planet is fantastic. I love the concept, and you executed it perfectly.

One problem...in the clouds above the water, theres a clear line where there are two different shades of blue (possibly due to blending). Its not that big of a deal, but i thought i would point it out, in case you ever wanted to make a print out of it or someting.

Great work!

that's flippin' awesome o.o though scientifically, would'nt that nearby moon/planet have an effect on the ocean and its high/low tides? But in a fantasy sense, this looks way beyond cool ^^
