Description Hell, this thing took forever.. and I don't even know why. Anyway, time to move on to a long overdue commission now.

This one's the follow-up piece to this one. I drew the lineart back in early 2007 (!), did some minor updates every once in a while and, finally, decided to color it about two weeks ago. Personally, I don't like her body and the boots. But the tech-arm isn't that bad, eh? Hope you guys like it..

Done with pencils.

Oh hey Jabier.. I've heard of Krita, haven't checked it out though. I don't have a graphics tablet and drawing with mouse isn't exactly among the most enjoyable things in existence. However, I'll make sure to give it a try once I buy a tablet. Thanks for the tip and your comment : )

Btw are you working on stuff for Krita as well? I remember your mentioning your work on some Inkscape things in your thread in the inkscape forum.

Sorry for the delay dont see your post.
I use normaly MyPaint to make Sketches because my old tablet pc is too small and slow to run krita.
Im waiting your proposal/s for inkscape contest!

Oh dear... There's too much other stuff I need to be working on. Another problem is that they are asking for new tools/features of the upcoming release to be used in order to show what it's capable of. I hardly ever use anything else but old reliable pen tool and gradients and usually need some time to warm up with something entirely new. Oh, and lets not forget that I have absolutely NO idea what I could do. It's highly unlikely that I'll be participating :/
Are you going to contribute something?

Very bad news

I contribute with this jabiertxof.deviantart.com/art/…
and if have time, i want to made a second proposal : "computer point of view of a person working with Inkscape". Like a miracle. The GUI like a projector in the wall.

Regards, Jabier.

I especially like the second idea. Hope you find the time to make this one as well. Good luck for the contest!

There are things in this image I wish I had done differently.. but technically I think this is still one of my best works so far. Thanks for your comment!

i think the same as joel, just would like them a lil' bit bigger

(the mecha arm is simply splendid ! my friend's little bro see the pic and asked me if he can have the same "arm if he go to japan O_o !!!"

I wouldn't be too surprised if the Japanese already have that kind of things. Maybe they're just hiding it from the world and instead only show us all that other mainstream stuff (you know, ninjas, pokemon, etc )

I'm still trying to comprehend the smoothness of the colors on this... by far, this one of the most beautifully detailed and colored pencil drawings I've seen.

Considering the fact that I don't draw such tech-stuff very often and consider my own skills in this field rather limited, I also think it came out quite nice. And I thought it would be fun to draw such hi-tech with lo-tech equipment XD Thanks a lot for your encouraging words!

Wasn't John Williams the guy who composed the Star Wars soundtrack and those of several other big-name movies? However, Google brings up a Robert Williams that seems to fit your description.. Anyway, thanks much for the compliment!

It's hard to say whether I'm a fan... I've only seen a handful of his works yet. So I certainly don't qualify as a true fan. But on the other hand I like his style.. so from this point of view you might say I am a fan. However, if you asked me whether his works have influenced me then the answer would be NO. Haha.. does this make any sense?

It looks like real! It must have taken ages to make the technical things look so realistic, but it was worth it.
The colors and shading and shining parts are my three favourite things on this picture

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Dillerkind In reply to Kashpi [2010-07-29 18:45:52 +0000 UTC]

Wow.. a comment.. and one that contains more than just two words O_O Haha, well.. you're right. This piece took me a while to color. But then I'm really really slow with everything I do, resulting in more or less every single pic taking ages to finish. But hey, as long as I'm having fun doing it ^^

I don't draw tech stuff very often so it was quite challenging to get something cool-looking together. I like the result.. and I'm glad I'm not the only one. Many thanks for the nice comment

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Kashpi In reply to Dillerkind [2010-07-29 19:30:40 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I donΒ΄t like these comments like "cool, dude", drives me crazy .
Hehe, you are like me. Are you nervous too from those people who need 4 hours to make a masterpiece? I have a feeling that DA is full of these ...
Exactly my point, the only thing important is to have fun.

Haha, no problem.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Dillerkind In reply to Kashpi [2010-07-29 19:58:06 +0000 UTC]

Nervous? Nah, not really.. I know I'm slow and it's not a problem for me. Means a somewhat more relaxed life.. well usually

And then most of these "quick-shots" (not meaning this in a negative way) are done digitally. Traditional artworks usually require more time.. that's at least what I've read so far, in other people's submission descriptions. Nevertheless it's indeed more than impressive to see what some people are able to create in just a couple of hours.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Kashpi In reply to Dillerkind [2010-07-30 12:01:41 +0000 UTC]

Yes, thatΒ΄s it! We are slower, more relaxed, happier and therefore nicer. Yes, that must be it

Well, I usually notice these quick amounts of time at traditional pictures, because I never did anything digitally (I am just lazy to start with it and learn it), so I canΒ΄t imagine how much it should take...

But on the other hand, I canΒ΄t stay doing one picture for more than a week. I just get bored by the same picture and have different ideas...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Dillerkind In reply to Kashpi [2010-07-31 16:53:43 +0000 UTC]

I don't do lots of digital stuff either.. Just a vector piece from time to time. But these eat up a lot of my time, too. For me it's not plain laziness that keeps me from starting/learning to paint digitally.. it's just that I don't wanna start working with too many different media, which I think would become rather counter-productive in the end. Better to focus on a few things, rather than have some basic skills in lots of media. And traditional media "feel" better imho ^^
