He looked down at the confession note, then back up at the girl. Her dark hair contrasting against the orange sky of dusk. In between her asking to meet him here and him waiting, he'd forgotten the school day was long since over. The summer breeze raining through her hair left a pleasing scent of some kind of shampoo, something sweet, a lily blossom perhaps? The girl smiled at him, expectantly after he looked up from reading the note.
"Frank," she started.
"I can't deny it any more! I've known you for so long and I can't help but want to be by your side! You've always helped me through my hard times, and I've helped you through yours. Will you be my boyfriend?"
That smile. Any sane person would kill to see that radiant smile, just as Frank would. Frank felt tears welling up, but they weren't of joy.
"I don't understand... Of all people, why would you love ME-knowing that I'm hurtful?"
