A sharp squeal rang through the apple trees, a low chuckle following close behind it.
“Ah, John... they’re just little-”
“LITTLE?” Johnny Gold yelped. He swung back his head again as his brother came closer, his eyes bulging. “Those things are huge, the fuck, Mornin’-” The darkest, larger spider fluttered it’s wings which made Johnny pound his hooves into the ground in fear. Morning Harvest couldn’t help but smile. Served em’ right.
“W-wings?? Why does this bug have wings? And why the fuck did you get two.”
“They are not bugs...they are arachnids...Poet ordered them for me from Indoneighsia. They came a week ago but you were on tour.” The larger stallion explained, opting to act like his brother was not freaking the heck out in front of him. “I haven’t named them yet but they’re so beautiful. He got a male and female for me so I can maybe breed em’ one day.” Morning snickered. “And I think the female likes you, Johnny.”
Johnny groaned as he continued to move away. “Please don’t tell me ‘she’ is getting a wing boner.”
“Oh yeah, she is.” The blonde pony grinned. He was enjoying this more than he would ever admit. “You are a pretty little pony, after all.”
His brother stopped in his tracks and narrowed his green eyes. Where had he heard that before...oh sweet Christmas. He was being punished. Morning Harvest grinned at his brother’s twitching eyebrow. Johnny could not believe his sweet, quiet brother was ruffling his tail feathers like this. He always forgets that him and Poetic Justice are best friends and probably tell each other everything….including the shit he says towards the prince.
“A-Alright…” Johnny tried soothing his fluffed up feather linings. Play it cool, Mr. Gold. “I know I’m hot stuff but can you please tell your creature to put her wings away? And put them away so we can maybe go into town and get some grub?” Forcing a dazzling smile, Johnny hoped his brother would give him a break. Maybe they can talk and clear the air.
Morning pouted. “Hmm…” For a moment, he said nothing as his hooded eyes seemed to bore into his little brother. Johnny fidgeted and let out a nervous laugh.
“Eeyup.” Morning nodded. “Lemme just put these beauties away and we can head out.” This confirmation made Johnny smile for real this time.
“Awesome! Your choice, brother.”

Whoo...this was hard to write. I had another draft but I felt like it didn't really work out. I wanted to explore Johnny and Morning's relationship. As boys, they fought a lot. Johnny was kinda an asshole, being the neighborhood's "Mean Girl". Morning was very shy and a bit chubby so he was victim to bullying.

As grown stallions they are still not buddy-buddy but Johnny does try to make things better...which includes always coming to see what monstrosity his older brother brought home. He hates everything Morning calls a pet besides a couple of cute snakes he has but he comes to please his brother. Morning on the other hand gets a tickle out of seeing his little bro hop up and down like a circus pony. He still hasn't really forgiven Johnny for how he treated him and it gets on his nerves when Johnny bothers his best friend.

Morning is still a quiet boy but sometimes he can be sly and enjoys lowkey teasing other ponies.
