I would make them slightly differently know. But they are basically a flat bit of leather which is decorated. The back sewn up and then the sides threaded with a lace. For the first wearing soaked in water so as you tighten the lace they mould themselves to the shape of your foot. An evolution from just wrapping a piece of leather around your foot. Very comfortable to wear.
