So i've been trawling through all the information I can on tardis's for ideas for new looks and mechanics and came across one of the old virgin books stories where in an alternate universe where on doctors death, the tardis becomes dormant, reducing its interior to a single small room containing the console as it waited for a new pilot.

You will find your time lord experiencing much the same thing here, as the only gallifreyan survivor on some long forgotten battlefield of the timewar you will find yourself scavenging any useful items as a small tutorial unfolds, after looting a tardis key you'll find yourself entering the tardis interior above and having to patch up the damaged console to get the basic systems running, after you do the engines will reactivate, architectural reconfiguration will start up and the lights will turn on, the new tardis interior will then be built around you and flight will become available from the console.
