...or I like to called this "the Million Dollar Plinko Ripoff." But anyway, this new NBC game, create by the famous basketball player, is the fun suspense game.Β One team of two will compete in front of the giant four story video wall (hence the name) to win the nearly impossible $12 million by dropping the balls to money slots, and you going read the word "balls" a lot in this journal. If that phases offense you, might as well get use to it. Can't think of better word.
The first round is the Freefall, or called "the very, very, think fast" round, as a team must answer five multi-choice questions while the balls dropping. You don't get a few seconds to discuss a question, it like 10 seconds or less. There was one question from the first episode (preview episode as they called it) where one of balls drop straight down in under about three seconds. One team didn't even have time to press one answer right away. I wish the show could've give them more time, like answer first before dropping the balls. But each questions has two choices and they are really easy to answer.
Every correct answer means the wall will add to the bank, depend of what slot the balls land on, but incorrect answer will subtract how much of it. They must have a positive score to move on to the next round, where one partner will stay in the studio and drop the balls, while a other will be in isolation room, where they only answer questions with no contact, or know how much a partner earn from the wall. On the first gameplay, after Freefall, a studio player gets two balls to play (that adding) and red ones (that subtract), and three as questions. Like always, right answers means adding, and wrongs mean subtracting. They do it again, with four green balls, four reds balls, and four questions.
After a game, one partner, still from isolation, will receive a contract. This will give them a guarantees money from the very first round plus $20K for every correct answer if it signed. But if refuse and tear it up, a team will get a money from the wall. After the decision, a team reunited on stage and a isolated player let their partner know what a decision.
Like always, it's a fun gameplay. In fact, I don't see it like very Plinko ripoff. I thought Lebron James did a good job. Who knew that one famous sports player can do game shows. Of course, I see few games that are similar to Plinko. I remember there's one of minigames on the local lottery game "Illinois Instant Riches" (but it may probably use it in several states) where one player release a ping pong ball, bounce around by several pegs, before landing on a bottom of a space. Although the rules are little different, as a next ball cannot land on same space again. But there're probably several of similar Plinko games out there, but I probably not going to spent all night looking for all of them.
The time limit on the Freefall game is my main concern. They could've answer first before dropping, but still, a fun game to play at home. But depend on the ratings, I worry this may be of those shows that come and go. I heard that the show already picked up for season two, so only time can tell if this show may successful. Do you like "the Wall?" Let me know in the comments?
