Just came across this one and tried it out immediately. The result is significantly better than anything I'd ever gotten out of my attempts, so thanks a lot for providing this tutorial. If you want to see the result: [link]

I love the way pics turn out with this! Really good, a bit faster would be nice. Can I ask what did you use to make it, I've been looking for an application to let me do something like this.

doctor-a In reply to imagine-like-crazy [2008-01-18 02:33:34 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! It was made with Macromedia (now Adobe) Captivate: [link]

It costs though. I now use this free software: Wink [link]

It isn't as pretty but works just as well for what I need.

Wow, I think I'll use this! Very thorough and clear. Can I just ask what version of photoshop this is?

doctor-a In reply to popeyethecat [2007-05-01 15:06:34 +0000 UTC]

From what I recal it may have been either CS 1, or the version before CS 1.

i think it gives the photo a very nice, old look... the best i've seen. i agree with catkate, though. it was a bit slow, and i found the bubbles unnecessary. i'd like to see more from you!

Hey, thanks! I'm thining of making some more, but this time using video, so it is faster and I can get through more stuff much more easily. I've switched to GIMP, but I can use GIMPShop which is similar to photoshop and practically make tutorials for both at the same time

nice work but I think it some complicated for doing a simple work! (I don't want to offend you)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

doctor-a In reply to fiori-di-ofelia [2005-09-28 05:59:50 +0000 UTC]

It is really hard to offend me . The reason it is like that is because a simple 'desaturate' does a horrible job, and you have more control this way. The file is 'reusable' too.

Though if you have any tips or suggestions I'd *really* appreciate them!

desaturate, exposure, lights/shadow, curves. there are many tools in photoshop, more simple to use. (imho)

erm.. a bit faster?
others,
suggestion : don need to box the option that we need to click next.
reason : because u already show it in ur bubble step and also wat u are going to click next.
additional : u also show it in ur "Artist's Comments".. so u can save up the trouble to do the box thinggy.

other than that.. every look great like the last one XD
ganna try that out after my 2 suffering weeks of final exam >_<
keep up the good work *tumbsup*

Yeah, I took off on this one a bit... since it is 2-3 times longer then the previous one.

I kept the "Click OK" steps (and others) to give people a prompt to pause the movie, and do it on their own.

But yeah I might do something about some of the less useful bubbles next time Thanks for the suggestions and the thumbsup .

Good luck with your exams!
