Why pick Zoe over Jamie? Because she's a girl? Jamie was in ALL but ONE of two's serials and is therefore his signature companion.
Otherwise... it's a very nice, colourful and tasteful piece.

Yes, because she was a woman. The decision was taken to balance eleven leading males with eleven leading females, and as such I didn't chose Ian, Jamie and the Brigadier, the three companions who I probably best associate with the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Doctors.

That's so...sexist. I just don't get how you can associate Zoë with Two more than Jamie. It makes no sense. They were like two peas in a pod, two sides of the same coin and joined at the hip.

It has nothing to do with sexism - simply an artistic choice; an attempt to balance the number of males with the number of females. If I were going to include Jamie, then I would have had all the companions in the background male, so as to keep a balance. This has nothing to do with sexism, or with who was the companion most associated with a specific Doctor (based on your logic why would I have chosen Romana I; surely it should be Romana II or maybe Leela...or why Susan instead of Barbara or Ian), it's simply an artistic decision.
If I were going to do a Doctor/Companion piece where the Doctor was with "their" companion, the whole thing would be very different. But I sat down to do a piece where each Doctor would be coupled with one of their female companions, and I simply chose the female companions I preferred (hence Zoe and not Victoria).
I'm sorry if you don't like it, but I don't want to ruin an effect simply to get the companion who appeared in the most episodes with a Doctor.

Well if you say so.. it's just Zoe always bugged me lol. If I'd had to have picked a girl it would probably been Victoria. They seemed to like her more.

When I was asked to turn it into a wall paper a tonne of people complained that I'd put Martha with the tenth Doctor instead of Donna, so bowing to their requests I did a completely new one and changed every companion behind, so I believe that Victoria did end up going in on that one. I did toy with the idea of doing a male companion wallpaper, but no one seemed interested so I didn't bother.

That's a good one, but I think Donna should be with Ten instead of Martha, 'cos she was better and Doctor loved her more (as a friend).
