This is forBuy lots of prints and make me moderately monie'd (and Deviantart rich!). Or just download the full version and oogle at all the detail.
This is 20+ hours of work, start to finish in photoshop, everything in photoshop. Mostly with a hard-edged round brush (a few exceptions in the shading and multiply layers). All the textures are by hand, all the... everything is by hand.
For those of you who have fav'd previous versions, this is the last one. The rest are going in scraps (That's why they're "stages" and this one "isn't")
...Let's just say I'm glad to be done, and I gained some knowledge of things and blah blah graduation speech blah blah roll credits.

what a stupe - I just finally looked at the final version in full view . The greater mag in the final brings out an incredibly rich texture and the background that worked so well in version 10 is even gooder here .

All that hard work and time really paid off. I love the different figures in the background, and the coloring and everything look really nice. Those scales and the eyes and everything make the picture seem so much more realistic~

Now my next step, is to use all these same techniques, but make the subject matter more universal, and make the composition a whole thing, not just a character and a graphic background.

And kudos to you for taking all the time to do all them textures. By hand. I'm liking that leather texture, by the way. The lighting is excellent, too, especially on his hands and sword. The poses and other pictures in the back are a cool idea, too.

Thanks! I almost wouldn't have done the lighting on the hands, but that's why art school is great! I'm working in the lab and some awesome guy comes up and says "do a second light source"
And the leather texture is my favourite too... probably because it took so long to do.
