Description Updated - 3-3-08 - spent some time working on the cracks & stuff. Not sure if I like the glowing edges on the crater or not...

A little closer to what I had in mind with Angel
Anyway, I'm only a week late on this one...and it's still not done. I need to do something with the cracks in the ground, they look kinda...flat. I might give the sky a red-orange tint as well. When I get time I'll do it...
Other than that, I'm actually happy with how this turned out.
It's sized for a wide screen monitor, so download for 1680x1050...
Thanks for looking guys

Thank you very much.
Actually, that's one of the textures that came with Vue 6.

Hmm... Could you put it in .jpg format? That and maybe sky? Post apocalyptic perhaps?

Actually, I don't think that would be possible due to the nature of the materials in Vue. You may want to try the free section at Renderosity [link]

this might be a disrespectful answer but I've seen a lot of fakers here on devart so my question is... did you make the models yourself or where they pre made and you changed the pose?...

sorry to ask...

if you made it all yourself then wow... you should be working as a graphic artist

codeboy In reply to codeboy [2008-03-26 15:30:53 +0000 UTC]

well yes and no... if I look at 3D models I tend to think a lot more about the work it takes to make the model... than the work it takes to make a pose and build a whole scene around it...

I'm an arse that way

codeboy In reply to codeboy [2008-03-27 14:08:23 +0000 UTC]

true.. and with fakers I mean people who actually claim that they made the model when it was just downloaded..

oh come to think of it.. this makes you a 3D photographer

I can definitely see your point, but I can't say whether one is more or less difficult than the other. Both depend on how much time and effort you're willing to put into it...

This is an amazing image. And just my two cents on the issue, I have spent hours upon hours before for a single render, IMO, both take alot of skill.

While I do have some experience in 3D modeling, I don't really have the time it takes to create models of this quality...so to answer your question - no I did not create the models myself.

But, just to clarify - you consider anyone who uses a pre-made model to be a faker?

The glowing edges give it that falling star burn look, and the glow in the center as well makes it stand out.

I think the glowing around the edges of the crater looks great... it defines the inside and outside of the crater at the same time, and makes the outer ground look uplifted. Great job!

Thank you Remember in the Terminator movies when they travel back in time and there's the glowing ball that kind of melts everything it touches? That's what I was going for, but I don't think I've quite done it...yet....
