alright critique time. You have a decent cell shaded art style. Id like to see what you can do with a more painted look like kecleon. It would really test how good your color theory can be. Heres an example of some of her work. purplekecleon.deviantart.com/a…

It's actually changed quite a bit since this drawing - including this character's design.
It's not really close to being finished but I hope to make a start on it in the near future.

Difficult to say - though I think I'm getting closer to perfecting the artworking style I'm going to be using in the comic.
The style I'm working on is quite different to the one in this piece, but no less enjoyable.

What would a dragon need with breasts?
It's a Reptile; it has no need for mammalian features.

You don't know enough about this character to make that kind of analysis.
For a start, she's not a reptile.

DoNotDelete In reply to KillToThrill [2010-12-22 03:17:53 +0000 UTC]
Using Earth-based classifications, she's a mammal (anything with mammary glands is a mammal - that's where the term comes from).
Her genome does not originate on Earth, though she shares characteristics with Earth-based creatures such as the killer whale or 'orca' (an aquatic mammal) as well as the parasaurolophus (extinct reptile) and nautilus (ancient mollusc).

The star on her left breast reminds me of Tsubaki from Soul Eater.

I see.
Though she's decidedly more 'covered up' than Orkesstra is here.

The pose truly is kickawesome. The cloth from the weapon flying around really adds to this, it's seriously an awesome picture. There might be many colors around, but I think they fit together in their own odd (and cool) way. The handles on the weapon make me think of a certain type of boomerang, like the ones Aika from Skies of Arcadia uses (yes I know the anchor looks different now, but still).
And a personal opinion, I'm happy you didn't integrate the stars in the outfit she has nowadays (or her battle armor), because I think that they don't fit the character and are looking slightly ridiculous (the one on the bra is okay though, it's mainly the tights).

Yeah, I decided the star motif wasn't right for Orkesstra later on.
This anchor actually separates into two pieces at the point where the crescent-sword and the star-sword cross, hence the handles.
I actually had a Klingon bat'leth in mind when I designed the crescent-sword part, but in the end I decided to go for a different theme with her weapon, and have revised that weapon a number of times since this version.
SoA has had an influence on some of my designs though.

The crossover would be interesting, but you may want to wait until I get around to submitting Orkesstra's updated design.
Most of her features are remaining the same - there are just some minor changes to her 'crown of horns' and I'm widening her hips a bit to more realistically accommodate her tail, though there are going to be some major changes to her forearms - all improvements.
Her weapon design has moved on a fair bit from the 'Blue Moon' too.

Nice compostion. The pose is pretty dynamic, the charcter and clothing seem to go together well, and the background is pretty nice. Overall, I wish I could do a piece of work like this.

Looking damn good, kick-arse pose indeed.
That starry blue piece of cloth flying around looks cool, but I have trouble seeing where it comes from.

DoNotDelete In reply to LeShad [2010-11-11 17:02:16 +0000 UTC]
It originates from the handle of the anchor-sword, much like the wrap from the handle of Ichigo's sword from BLEACH (the pre-bankai form).
The mechanism in the body of the anchor-sword was supposed to spin the handle to retract the cloth/ribbon when Orkesstra threw the blade at an opponent (much like nega-Ichigo/Zangetsu does in that dream sequence in one of the BLEACH books/episodes).
I've gone far more original weapon designs now though - this design is very outdated (the linework for this piece is around two years old).
