When I first was assigned to this job it was ten weeks before the arrival of the human ambassador. I was given ten weeks to learn modern human culture, refine my terra-common, create a tour schedule, organize venues for lectures and debates, and on top of all of this act as a consultant for officials all across the city at any given moment. It was a-lot to deal with.

My only reprieve from these duties was the few moments I could peer off into the sea of souls, close my eyes and glimpse the peaceful sight of nothing. An undisturbed horizon. But as the day grew closer I saw something, peering over the edge of the sky. Radiant it claimed the void and drowned the darkened sea in light. As though a new moon was hung in the cosmic display and at its approach the heavens clamored to hold it back.

And once the first day concluded, when the ambassador finally arrived and settled down for the night. When I finally got to rest for the first time in days it sat in the sea, just before the horizon. The ocean's waters reflecting a blinding light, and the Giant sitting upon a island formed of mist and gleam.

I did not know what the Giant was, or what it meant. Not for a long time...
