I've been a subscriber of HM magazine since 1999 when i was 18 and i grew up with the kickass animated movie since 1993 when i was 12 watching it on TBS every time it would come out late at night and even bought the finally on video movie in 1996 when i was 15 and on DVD when i was 19.
Since the magazine and movie are so influential, do you think they inspired The Fifth Element and Avatar?
I've seen Avatar 10 times in a theater and keep reminding myself "It's like they brought Heavy Metal magazine to life". James Cameron is a big fan of both Heavy Metal the movie and the comic books as i believe this magazine with the movie were his inspirationsto Avatar.
You an tell it was like a full length issue brought to life gloriously with exotic Sci-fi fantasy themes, adventure, sexy alien gals, alien tits, being a warrior in a new body to escape from reality, futuristic themes, magical alien worlds, surrealism etc. including the ability to appeal to every guy who still has the teenager within them.
A winning combination.
