Description

Kindle and paperback versions of Vision are now available on amazon: www.amazon.com/Naiad-Chronicle…

A very limited number of Kiki the dragoness plushes are available!

Kiki is one of the main characters of my new book, Vision, book one of The Naiad Chronicles. Despite being a dragon, her hand-raised nature among humans has resulted in her being sweet, good-natured, very honest and frankly batty. She loves anything cute, pink or fluffy, or, ideally, all three. She is easily swayed by jaw tickles and bacon sandwiches. She is terrified of spiders but, lucky for her, spiders naturally avoid dragons.

The Naiad Chronicles is a series of four books aimed at the teen / crossover market. If you like the tongue-in-cheek style of the Discworld novels or the depth and characterisation of the Eragon books, you’ll probably like The Naiad Chronicles, because it’s somewhere between the two. Get exclusive signed Launch Editions through the Kickstarter now! Go go go!

CONTEST COMING SOON – keep an eye on my journals, folks, in the next few days I’ll be posting a contest to win a Kiki plush, a hardback Launch Edition of the book, the standard prints and the bookmarks! It’ll be free to enter, I’m just still working out the logistics.

Plush bumph – Kiki is made with minky fabrics, faux-fur, hand-embroidered features and hand painted stripes. Her wings are wired and her head jointed. She stands 10 inches tall, 11 including her horns, and about 18 inches long, from chest to tail.

Ah so cute! Curious though, what type of paint do you use for the stripes? Was it an airbrush or do you use fabric paints of somesort? Do the painted details stay on pretty well or do they fade with time?

Just noticed the horns. Love the detailing of them. ^_^

Thank you!
They are acrylic paints (mine say water based but I don't know if that's a thing?!) that are watered down to stop them gowing clumpy. If you brush hell out of it with a fine nail brush it'll fluff up the minky again. It's resistant to splashes and - if it needed it - quick surface washing, but long time saoking will wash the paint off. Soap takes it right off too. I'll try with some fabric paints before I make the Kikis to see if I can get the same softness with those, but ideally some better water risistance.
These are going to adult collectors so they won't need cleaning very often, but it'd still be nice.

Ah gotcha. I think water based means they can be washed off. I think if they were oil based soap and water cant remove it... something i heard awhile ago. Not sure how true it is. I might have to eventually give that a try, painting on plush fabric. Just havent had the opportunity yet. ^_^ I love your plushies. So cute all of them.

I tried searching for water-based acrylics online after I bought these, but all acrylics are supposed to be oil based? Mine are MAGIC.
I'll be trying other, 'cause we'd all like the best risistance - cuddly balance ;D
