Distance anatomy. It is a gorgeous picture but the human could be a tad more detailed/defined.

AND THEN YOU DO THIS!  This is a unique piece.  The concept is the best part here I think.  Very fun and imaginative.  The coloring and shading is stellar.  I love the transparency of the fins.  The detail in the rain, water, and scales is lovely.  And there's a little bit of stylized flair to the painting as well in the design of the fish.  Beautiful clouds too! 

Cons: The grass in the foreground is a little boring/flat looking.  I think that's something to work on.  And I feel like the child's pose suggests more of a "HALT!" gesture than a petting/reaching gesture.  But maybe that's what you wanted?  Meh that's quitealright looking.  Also I want to point out that you have a nice white line where the back fin touches the water but not the front fin.  From pictures I've seen the use of white on the back fin is more realistic.  If that's what you want.

Also what do you suggest about adding depth to the grass? should I add a layer of lighter grass? also I meant the girl to be kind of afraid of the fish, like IM GONNA PET YOU EVEN THOUGH YOU SCARE THE BAJEEZUS OUTTA ME.

Okay, I like the girl's pose.  I get that feeling from her.    The grass... I think what's bugging me is that it is too uniform?  Here's a pic I found: mergx.files.wordpress.com/2011… it doesn't fit the pic perfectly but it shows that each clump has a different height and shape.  I mean you grass looks much much better than some people's grass but it still kind of looks like you're just drawing each individual piece of grass.  Typically you want to draw the shapes that the grass makes together and then you get the impression of grass.  Did that make sense?  Sometimes I feel like I don't make sense.  Also, to give the grass more depth you could extend it into the water like this photo: farm4.staticflickr.com/3636/36…  Here's another good picture of grass by water: ak.picdn.net/shutterstock/vide…  Maybe you could draw darker and lighter spots then use the grass paintbrush over that.  Hmmm.  I'm trying to give you ideas without actually having the digital art experience.  I played with photoshop and loved it in high school but I haven't be blessed to be able to buy it for myself (even though I have a small tablet!   )  I hope this helps some.

Thank you for all the advice! I try not to draw every single blade of grass, but its hard. Next time Ill try to make it more natural. And yes, I get what your saying about just creating the illusion of grass and not drawing every piece.
