Story:
"So what would your Viking name be?" Andre asked, looking up from his newspaper at Hampus. Hampus snorted at Andre's random question. "I dunno, Hairybear?" Andre burst out laughing, "Darling you wish, you're too twiggy to be a bear." He tossed the newspaper at Hampus, "But there is a Viking show advertised in here if you think you can pull off the ‘Hairybear’ look. Can test out Edel's cross country skills, you've trained him long enough." Hampus frowned. “How do you know I've done cross country training? We only do dressage together." Andre smiled, coldly. "Hampus, dear, you're 30 and I do your washing. You don't get mud on your jodhpurs from doing dressage."
"Fair enough, best get a nice new saddle."
Thankfully, Hampus' hay fever didn't play up too much as he rode Edelweiss through the cross-country course. His nose was a little red and he welled up a bit through the trees but his form wasn't too bad and he managed to stay on throughout. It was well-known that despite some casual trail and cross-country training, Hampus was a dressage rider at heart and found the whole thing rather terrifying. It wasn't a bad thing, to get out of his comfort zone, but at the same time, he missed the predictability and control he had when he rode Edelweiss in dressage. He couldn't deny, however, how thrilling it was to be on the back of a safe ride, soaring over decorated jumps and enjoying the smell of the outdoors. Edelweiss clearly had potential, and even if Hampus was never going to be the best at jumping, he knew he couldn't let his horse down and restrict him to one discipline.
