Description
This is a YCH me and my friend Leniovias got from Julia_goldfox a while back and i finally got around to posting it. I really like how it turned out and like how things seem grim the story that Leniovias wrote below shows how it also seems hopeful.

Story by Leniovias:

Another burning branch fell on the ground next to the screaming dragons. The forest fire was spreading rapidly, and they cursed themselves for not noticing it earlier... of course, such a warm, sunny day was dangerous for a dry forest that didn't see any water in weeks, and the small cave they wanted to rest in during their travel was in the middle of it. Now their risky choice for a place to sleep showed its true face.

Draco and Leni stumbled through the burning forest, evading branches, avoiding bushes, searching for paths... and with each and every step, the ice dragon grew weaker, and weaker... Leni was made for the cold, and the stinging heat started to hit him hard and to tire him out rapidly. It didn't take too long until he tumbled and slumped on the floor, his breath was heavy and his body was trembling. "I... I can't... go further...", the ice dragon panted, coughing as he has clearly lost his strength in the heat.

Draco on the other hand growled. "No, Leni! I won't just leave you here, not after all you've done for me!", he replied and rushed to the ice dragon. He was not willing to give up his friend... Leni has helped him through hard times and seemingly impossible situations, and now he saw it in his responsibility to return the favor. So he ducked under his friend, and slowly and carefully slid him over his shoulder to pick him up. Leni barely reacted and moved, as he could only groan weakly.

After a few moments, Draco slowly stood up, grunting under the weight... but he felt the adrenaline rush in his blood, and his pure will kept him going. "I won't leave you behind, we will get out of here... both of us!", the red dragon shouted as the fire around them was crackling. "We'll escape this place!", he promised once more, before he took all his strength to run for the sunlight shining on a clearance in the distance.
