Description This is basically a bar of purple glowing Tritium
(You can only see it in the dark, yet it last for over 20 years)

Crafted with pieces from a very old clock, bras, some wood and all onto a chain of silver.

Fanfic:
This is a Energy Core for a plasma/Tesla weapon, and because these cells are so expensive, they are often used in jewelry, like this one.

EDIT:
If someone wants to buy this, it is now broken Dx I accidental the wood.

Awesome work, I love the attention to detail. They got these online from overseas marketplaces, I want a keychain one so bad.

I tried fitting a small light-bulb with a switch and lithium-battery in there (b/c steampunk) but in trying to drill the whole bigger, it split in 3. so yeah :<

do you have instrucktions on how to make one? or do you make a bunch and sell them?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Draeberkanin In reply to spiderserna [2011-04-24 10:25:46 +0000 UTC]

I had gathered a lot of old mechanical stuff, copper, brass, steel and so on. I think I used 1/200 of all the stuff I got, just b/c those individual pieces in this fit perfectly together.

There is only one.
But I would likely make another one ^^ It will not look anything like it thou :/

You should mass-produce em. I'd buy.
PS: You should include an in-the-dark photo.

That isn't quite so easy depending on where you live. as they cannot be legally obtained and sold in the U.S. , you would have to check with laws of your country/state to see availability of them for commercial selling and of course find a proper place to purchase the material (Tritium.

You can purchase it from random sellers legally/illegally. if you can obtain it legally you can purchase what I would consider a large amount for pretty darned cheap considering what people usually sell the 6-22mm vials for. and it would probably be a good idea to take protective measures anyways, but especially if you end up working with it in larger quantities.

Sure it looks great and you can get it/color it in a variety of colors (which will alter how bright it is, and the brightest which seems to be green is not comparable to a glowstick )Of course how bright it is DOES depend on the amount contained. If memory serves tritium is hydrogen 3 which is a heavy water.

Stuff like this I believe is also a waste product of nuclear power plants, the natural occurrence of it from my understanding is actually pretty rare.

Just ran into it recently and while it is pretty damn cool (10-15 year lifespan) for jewelry and such, please take precautions and look into your local laws, and when making jewelry, make sure it's very well protected. it never hurts to be cautious.

The wood.. I broke it when I tried to fit in a little bulb with a Lithium battery and a switch. I though it could be there (it could) but in the process, I ripped the wood in 3 parts.

yeah thats awesome when i searched it came up with a warning about government watching and it freaked me out then i realised its highly radioactive in large quantities and they watch to make sure nonoes building a bomb xD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Draeberkanin In reply to PurpleHeyze [2010-06-14 11:03:09 +0000 UTC]

You cant build a bomb with Tritium. Tritium only contains.. well, tritium. If you, on the other hand, already got a Nuke, then you could amplify the blast a hell of a lot.
But until we can make cold fusion, there's no reason to be freaked out
