Dragarta — Seascape with icebergs by-nc-nd

Description This is oil painting on canvas I did for my painting class last semester. It´s not my idea, we had to do a reproduction of any painting we like. I chose the painter William Bradford (1823-1892) and one of his arctic sceneries. Original by W.B. has more yellow though, I had quite a bad lighting in atelier : /
It´s actually my fourth oil painting and I think it´s the only painting technique I can enjoy so much : D Wish I had more time for practise.

Canvas is approx. 12"x16" (30x40cm)

That's amazing work, looks just like an old oil painting would. You make me jealous with your talents! Why do you enjoy this technique so much, is it "easier" to do, or do you just like the way it looks?

Oil painting is better for me cause it dries slowly and I can keep working on it quite a long time Also layering is very simple and final look of oil painting on canvas is very tasty

Tak tomuhle říkám velké umění. Sice ten námět mi nic neříká a technika ta jde už ůplně mimo mě, ale právě proto musím reagovat. Vidím v tom taková ta klasická plátna co visí v galeriích a kterým sice moc nerozumím, ale vážím si umění těch co je namalovali
Laicky řečeno i když reprodukce, tak z mého pohledu krásný klasický obrázek

Tak nějak se mi zdá, že to nezapře tvoji techniku. Decentní barvy - budiž, ty jsou částečně podle originálu- ale taky umíš jemné přechody mezi plochami. ( Mě se zdá, podle toho, co jsem zatím viděla, že alespoň první olejomalby jsou většinou takové tmavé nebo vykřičené, s tlustými vrstvami barev a ostrými přechody - tak trochu do expresionismu). Takže se mi to moc líbí. (A zase mě to popíchlo k tomu, abych už konečně taky vyzkoušela ty olejovky, co mám už pěkně dlouho doma...)

Nejaky osobity pristup se urcite odrazi na vsem Ale i original je malovan jemne a peclive, takze by byla asi chyba snazit se o reprodukci jinym stylem. Mne to takto naprosto vyhovuje, vrstva oleje je tenoucka a rychle zaschne
