yeaaaah. That was actually my first shoot posing with a prop firearm, and since then, some of my friends have taught me better.

I hope you don't mind me asking but how'd you figure out what the numbers were on the shoulder and chest armor? (I'll gladly credit you for the info whenever I get around to finishing my Raiden cosplay. ... Someday. ;_; )

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Dragonblade-Dreams In reply to knuxiechan [2012-05-11 20:59:18 +0000 UTC]

I completely made it up.

There is no accurate reference for the numbers. Maybe you could try getting screen grabs from the HD collection, but even so, the numbers are pretty much blurs.

I ended all the numbers with the same number that Raiden has tattooed on his chest, however (57-86)

That was a personal choice. There are other "relevant" number/letter combinations around, too. For instance, I have "S3" hidden around in some of the lettering (though the font makes it look more like 53, but whatever.)

UM ABSOLUTELY. THIS IS A THING THAT MUST HAPPEN. I'm in SoCal, but I take trips out to the east coast (to the DC/metro area) every so often c:

AlmightyRamtha In reply to Dragonblade-Dreams [2012-05-02 23:41:02 +0000 UTC]

I actually live on the west coast also! Just above you in Washington. Have you thought about coming up to Sakura con ever? It's pretty big and happens in like early April every year. I know next year we're trying to get another MGS photoshoot off the ground. If you ever wanted to come, I'd totally be happy to share room space with you!

But oh man, I'll so keep that in mind if I ever take a road trip! It would only take like 14 hours to get there by car (Not counting the horrible traffic I'll likely incur.)

Are you more LA or San Diego? I actually lived in San Diego for a short time, and my bro still lives there.

Dragonblade-Dreams In reply to AlmightyRamtha [2012-05-04 23:24:17 +0000 UTC]

Awesome! :'D I've considered going to Sakuracon, but it's a little hard going to out-of-state cons at the moment, you know, needing a steadier job and all that stuff :> But I've heard some good stuff about it, and if I can give myself an excuse to go, then I'll definitely try and make it out one day. In that same vein, have you ever come out for Anime Expo or Comic-Con (if you're that lucky)? They're both summer cons, and are absolutely huge. (Some friends of mine are trying to put together a MGS2 group for AX this year.) D'aww, that's super sweet of you -- If I do make it out to Sakuracon, I might take you up on that! :0

I'm in LA proper, actually. c: A bit closer than San Diego by a couple hours, at least. But I go down to San Diego on occasion to hang out with friends here and there. Hoorah for the Grayhound! :'D

AlmightyRamtha In reply to Dragonblade-Dreams [2012-05-05 04:14:21 +0000 UTC]

Auhg, I've never actually been to an out of state con either. DX I almost went to one in Minnesota until I got SUPER homesick and had to leave like 4 days prior since I'd been there nearing 2 1/2 weeks.

Also, I totally hear you about the job thing. I'm about to quit one of mine because of it sucking so much :I. I haven't decided for sure if I want to find a full job after that or go for an internship to try and get experience in something OTHER than retail.

I might have to go to Anime Expo some day. Most likely not this year. Heh :I. But hell, if I get a better job I might be able to save up and go next year.

Dragonblade-Dreams In reply to AlmightyRamtha [2012-05-11 01:49:18 +0000 UTC]

ohhhh man. But if you were already gone for that long, I don't blame you =w= No judging and all that.
You've got two jobs? What do you do (and can you share? I just went job hunting today and skjfhgkdfg SO many placed didn't even want to look at my resume...) My experience has been that having an internship and a part-time job is kinda the ideal combination -- you're learning something that you want to do, and you're still earning dollars doing something. But IDK what works for you c:

You should totally have to go to AX one day. Might not be this year, or whatever, but I'd say it's one of those cons that should be on a "convention bucket list" or something? It's, uh, an experience xD o w o If you saved up to go, though, o man, ooooooo man. it'd be awesome.

AlmightyRamtha In reply to Dragonblade-Dreams [2012-05-11 04:58:32 +0000 UTC]

Well, I just quit my job at gamestop, (DEAR GOD DO NOT WORK AT THAT PLACE!) and I also work at a comic shop that I can't really recommend highly for employment either.

It's all just very awkward. I want to get jobs that AREN'T retail but all I am really qualified for is food and retail. I mean, I have my AA. But honestly that doesn't mean shit now adays.

Dragonblade-Dreams In reply to AlmightyRamtha [2012-05-11 21:07:02 +0000 UTC]

Man, I hear horror stories all the time about working at GameStop. What's so shitty about it (other than never getting scheduled, and something about rather destroying old systems than donating or doing anything else with them)?

Well, what kind of job would you like to have (that isn't retail)? I've worked at a number of places, and none of them have been retail, funny enough, so maybe I can toss in my two cents? I know that I've taught kids art lessons at places, and you're a good enough artist that you could probably do the same, too (if that was something you had an interest in doing)? A lot of finding 'qualifications' is just, like, finding stuff you're good at. Hell, selling at AA is showing that 1) you're an artist 2) you can 'run your own business' and 3) market yourself. I think people would be impressed with that, if you wanted a non-retail job. c:

AlmightyRamtha In reply to Dragonblade-Dreams [2012-05-12 04:26:43 +0000 UTC]

There's just A LOT about their company. A lot about my new manager too. If you have the time there's something called "Zero originality" out there where a guy breaks down a lot about gamestop and their stuff. Its just an hour long video and it was pretty true to EVERYTHING. I have personal complains too like my boss' aggressive sales behaviour, and his bigoted back room comments. Not only that but his back handed way of dealing with problems and his ultra aggressive writeup practices.

I guess if I could work anywhere I would want to work somewhere where I didn't have to SELL things. That's mostly it to me. I don't want to have to pressure people into doing anything they don't want to do. In all reality I REALLY REALLY just want to be in school, and until then I feel like I have no reason to be having a job that does more than pay me and not treat me like shit because I feel like I'm not qualified. I want to get into something not high pressure. I honestly don't know. My brain just turns off when it comes to "jobs that exist" I'm like HEY BRAIN, WHAT JOBS ARE REAL! and my brain says. OOH OHH! I GOT THIS! ASTRONAUT!
no brain... not that...
OH OKAY. UHMMM, FIREMAN.
No I don't think I can do that.
OKAY WHAT ABOUT AMBULANCE!
THAT'S NOT A JOB, BRAIN!
FINE! I DUNNO, GAS STATION ATTENDANT, GROCERY STORE, THE MALL.
Oh.... I guess I could have those jobs.... I guess......

And then my brain is out of ideas and I get stressed feeling very limited in my capacities and feeling like if those are the things available to me, then I wasted my time getting my AA because no other jobs "exist".

You did a fantastic job with the suit and this photo set looks amazing. Did the water (chlorinated?) cause any damage?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Dragonblade-Dreams In reply to prosperouscheat [2012-05-02 20:17:33 +0000 UTC]

It did not. All of the parts of my outfit were treated and waterproofed. The material itself is used for wetsuits, so chlorine didn't hurt anything.

...
But I did end up smelling like chlorine after I got out of the water c:
