For those up-to-date with Minecraft updates, you may have heard of the Jungle Biome Jeb and Jon are working on. They said they're adding some new Jungle-themed mobs into that biome, the notable one being Monkeys. A new biome's just asking for new ideas so...here's Audrey Carnivine a Venus Flytrap!
I'm not sure whether or not to count this as a mob or a new block, since it kinda functions as both. These carnivorous plants are stationary, and about the same size as block slabs. When a player, creature, or item drops onto it, it clamps shut. Damage is inflicted to mobs, while items disappear. Afterwards, it reopens and waits for you to stand on top of it again.
Killing a Venus Flytrap will drop its sapling, allowing you grow more of these deadly plants. They can be grown quicker by using bonemeal or meat. Either as a garbage disposal, a trap, or simply aesthetics, this plant is sure to please (or kill) the average jungle adventurer.

If you have to kill it not break it then its probably a mob because the shulkers are mobs but they sit in one place like a block

Holy cow! You did most of my favorites from that mod, and now I discover this gem? Penguins? Camels?? These are fantastic! The idea of carnivorous plants is so outside of Minecraft's usual style, and yet you've managed to make this look so beautifully in keeping with the game we all love.Β
I really need to learn how to mod, so I can actually have these wonderful things...

Dude, I would make this mod! It would attack and kill mobs, but not the player if they planted it.

Also, are you THE Ex_Dragonith that worked on the Jurassicraft mod? That mod was sooo awesome, maybe you could team up with Flammarilva and implement a time machine and an extra dimension filled with wild dinosaurs!

Another thought You could try to make it in a mod, and maybe venus flytraps attract smaller mobs easyer like chickens and spiders
