Maybe we can view the video again, and try to stop at the precise film-still where the sign appears...
I also took a hast look on other videos' titles, and there's also a Morocco pavilion and maybe more other Countries. It'd be cool to compare them with the original ones, finding the places they copied.
Well, with Venezia is too easy: it's the most copied city in the world. I know there's a copy somewhere in China, for an example, and many more all over the world. Even "Venezuela" takes the name from Venezia. I also know there are lots of "Venice" all over the States. It sounds fun, to tell you the truth, but I don't think all are made as copies of the original one.
I got there twice. Never went on a gondola, because it's too expensive. And you need a romantic excuse to go there; the only trip in a small boat was in Cambridge, England... lots of years ago. And we met lots of Italian students, there.
In Venezia there are lots of tourists and all the shops are expensive. You've got to look carefully to prices and to what kind of souvenir you buy... but I think this works in all made-for-tourists cities in the world.
There's a quarrell between Cruise-Ships and people from Venice, because... you can imagine: a 20 and more meters high ship, really close to those small "canali" and small car-boats going to work.
But it's also clear that Venezia lives on tourism: could they really block all the big ships and stop all the mass of tourists, because they dream a calm place?
If you live in a city for tourists, you can't find a peaceful corner. And Venice is famous all over the world, almost unique.

what part exactly is the sign you're looking at in? Maybe I can find a better photo of it.
I could see that. Epcot's World showcase is meant to basically be an "best of" thing for each country. Replicas of what you think when you hear those countries.
yeah, if it's as big a tourist spot as it sounds like, it's expected that the shops would be expensive.

It's clear, from the picture, that the tower is a bit too small. But it's fun! There's a place, near the city of Perugia, called "Italia in miniatura" (Italy in miniature), where all the main cities of Italy are models in scale.
I've never been there. They say that's boring, to tell you the truth, but I think I'd enjoy it.
I'll watch the video again, so I could take a screen-shot of it.
Got it: the name of the street is "Via Benvenuti".
The street itself wishes you "Welcome"!
It's the fusion of the adverb "bene" and "venuti" past participle of the verb "venire - to come".
Benvenuto β‘ Welcome (to one man) - that's also a name, Benvenuto Cellini
Benvenuta β‘ WelcomeΒ (to one woman)
Benvenuti β‘ Welcome (to everybody, men and women)
Benvenute β‘ Welcome (to women only)
Or maybe it's a surname of someone famous. There's a boxeur, for an example, Nino Benvenuti
It's a nice name for a street.
Once I found, by chance, a street called "Via Divisi", that means "Divided Street", and it was written in Italian and both in Arabic and in Jewish. I was perplexed: was it celebrating a not so pleasant status quo?
It's better Benvenuti Street... maybe Benvenuti Square, if you let me a bit finicky.

Ah, I did not think about the other landscapes. You're right, I'd not like to see the peak of a pyramid in the middle of a bridge supposed to be in Stocholm. Or the Big Ben's huge watch behind a Chinese pagoda.
It's fun to walk around these mini-places, I bet, a bit as I was used to dream as a child: to walk in the Lego castles, houses, ships etc. or in the middle of a Christmas Crib. These mini-places always give a spark to my imagination. I still love miniaturized things: I can create mini-books and I also collect lots of mini common-use things.
I am perplexed about this name, to tell you the truth. Maybe somewhere there's a East-Ovest Berlin or North-South Corea street. '_'
They seem want to celebrate a war or a wall.
Once I saw a street whose name really impressed me, near to fear: "via Assiderato".
In Italian "assiderato" means "frozen to death".
I asked myself: who could be the mad who gave that name to an "innocent" street?
Then someone explained me that was just a surname. "Ah..." I answered. But it still gives me the creeps.
It's better to carry an extra sweater, when you go there. -_-

Exactly. Seeing bits of Italy while you're supposed to feel like you're in Japan wouldn't work. It is really fun. It's in my opinion the best part of Disney's Epcot park. It has two sections. The World Showcase with the different countries; (France, Italy, America, Japan, Canada, China, Norway, UK, Germany, Morocco, and Mexico) and the other half called "Future World" which is supposed to be rides about technology and the future but I like the World Showcase part best. I think most people do. It's fun to feel immersed in one country one moment and a completly different country the next.
That is strange about this name.
is "via Assiderato" in an area known to be very cold? Hence the name meaning "frozen to death?"

I think I'd like both the trips, and, obviously, expecially in familiar places, that could be not only Italy, but also Japan (thanks to the tons of anime and manga I've read in many years), Germany (I've really been there), France, England (been there twice) and Morocco; maybe Mexico too, because I really love its colors and the shape of its traditional towns and houses. In that Future World are there any robots or PC screens or anything to interact with?
That street is in a quiet tiny corner somewhere in Ferrara. It's not a cold place or a freezing spot: it's ALL freezing in winter, you know. It's only a surname of some important man.
www.tuttocitta.it/mappa/ferrarβ¦
The weird thing is I can't find anyone whose surname is "assiderato". Maybe I've to search better... ._.

I've never been to any of these countries for real.
The Japan pavilion is great! They do sell anime merchandise (though sadly, no Astro Boy stuff) and there's a very nice and serene garden that I believe I took pictures of on my last trip. I did get footage of the store. I think I have photos too but I gotta dig them up.
Ah I understand now.

It's long time, now, that I don't travel abroad... or anywhere out of my own land. It would be cool to see some corners from other Countries not going too far from home. And it'd be easier than meet foreign people, it's hard to me to meet friends, out of the internet and a computer; there are many strangers here, in theory it could be so easy to meet and mix... but the reality is really different.
I see. I think that they prefer to use some safe trademarks. In spite of his age, his fame and the fame of his author, AstroBoy is not mainstream. I don't really guess what you can find in the Japan pavilion. Maybe it's easy to guess a thing like food or lanterns... and the obvious writings.
I hope they're not random: once I found a photo where they presented, somewhere in Japan, an Italian restaurant, but they used some random words. They put almost a list, and also there were "cattivo", that's "bad". '_' Who would put "bad" in front of his/her restaurant? Maybe if it sounds Italian enough, it sounds good, but... ^_^'
Do you find real pasta in Italy pavilion? We have got a lot of strict rules about food, and 1000 different recipes, with variations, all over Italy. So, you can't guess or arrange. For an example, pasta with meatballs is NOT Italian, it's a USA invention. I bet it's tasty, but if they tell you that's Italian, they lie to you.
You won't find anywhere "Italian cheese" or "Italian wine": everything has got a specific name, here. It's easy to spot the fake.

It would be great to travel to Japan and still come home quickly.
Yes, they like to focus on what's popular or new. There was a lot of Pokemon, Dragonball, some Gundam, some Sailor Moon, and of course Hello Kitty.
Wow. No, it's not random like that.
I haven't eaten in the Italy pavilion yet but they do have a place that serves pasta and pizza. We're thinking of trying it next time.
I did not know that about pasta with meatballs XD I do hear Italian pizza is pretty different from American pizza.

Uhm... I don't know anything about the differences between a pizza made in Italy and the same made in USA.
I know that USA owns the copyright of it, in spite of the fact we invented it...
I could tell something about Domino's pizza I ate many years ago in England: it was pretty good, but I think they added something in the dough, so it tasted pepper. Real pizza does not need pepper. You virtually can put everything on a pizza; in ancient times they said there was a place in which people ate both food and plates: the "plates" they meant were pizza, or piadina, or pita or everything you can put ingredients on.
I also know that Australians love to put pineapple on pizza. I tell you I find this idea terrific. 0_0
Maybe Italian pizza is different because we never exaggerate with cheese (mozzarella cheese or many other kind of cheese that can melt in an oven), but we are really strict about tomato sauce: never put ketchup on pizza, with the only exception with french-fries pizza.
We love to put basil on our tomato sauce and not too many ingredients. But we DO experiments, of course. Some of them really mad!
Original tastes are really simple: three or four ingredients, plus some drops of chili-flavored olive oil
Almost the same about pasta: we use to not cook it for too long, we love to prepare it "al dente". That means ready, but still a bit strong under your teeth. Never put anything like ketchup or mayonese on pasta, please, don't ^_^. We love to eat pasta almost every day; there are lots of different shapes, each of them we know what sauce matches the best. Of course, it's not an exact science, but we all agree about ketchup
The best pizza ever, of course, is made in Napoli. You can also find, at almost every corner, tasty and delicious typical street-food, there. Sweet, salty... :-D It's a joy for your senses, you can bet on it! Not if you're on a diet, yep... But if it's just once or twice...

that's weird about the US copyright on it. I didn't know you could copyright a food :/
That's an interesting thought about pizza actually being plates and whatever food you had on it being their toppings. I like it XD
Yes, my mom likes pineapple on her pizza too. I actually don't think it's so bad. It's not my choice topping but it's not as bad as people say. Anchovies on the other hand... X__X
Pizza is he best food to experiment with.
Don't worry. I've never put ketchup or Mayonnaise on my pasta.
mmm that sounds good. In America I think the best place for pizza is New York city. ^__^

The waiter at Domino's pizza in England was Italian, so we asked her if she knew if there was any pepper inside the dough; she answered NO, not at all! But it DID tasted pepper... '_' ?
Once I ate a pizza all covered in chocolate. All surface was only chocolate (if you know Nutella... you can have a precise idea!). It was mad, I will never eat such a thing in my life, but that day I had to try. I ate it after another pizza, a normal one. ^_^
I also like so called "white pizza": a pizza without any tomato sauce or tomatoes on it. It's only cheese and maybe vegetables, or anchovies, or garlic or mushrooms... or all together.
Too many things on it was called Harmageddon by one of my old friends: onion, ham, garlic, tuna, grated grana cheese, mozzarella cheese, mushrooms... and many more. It was really mad. But the worst one was a strange mix with the "salamina da sugo", the most famous dish in Ferrara. My stomach can eat almost everything, but not tihis. Another crazy one is the "pataciccia" (potato + sausace - patata + salsiccia): on a pizza you put mozzarella, hot sausages, baked potatoes and... bless you! :-D
I bet that New York city has got many great pizza places, and not all Italian

First Turtles' game I remember was a version for Commodore 64, a not so good version of the same Famicom's one. I loved music, the fact all Turtles were different, the Tarta-Van (the truck invented by Donatello... I don't know its original name), all the enemies... and the fact, once my brother told me, that the entire plan of the game was really close to "Go Getsu Fuuma", a ninja game, in which you could do almost the same thing you could in Turtles.
Then, I played the Amiga 500 version, that was a bit annoying, to tell you the truth, but maybe it was because my brother got mad in a nano-second at every tiny mistake I did. :-/
I also love new movies, even if the new April O'Neill is not really good, if you ask me; she should shut her mouth a bit more, she seems she always finds difficulties in breathing...
Old movies are a perfect disaster, but I love them as I have been growing up with them. We watched the first one at cinema, and I was proud to be one of the few girls there. My favorite character was Michelangelo, but now... now I think he's a bit empty minded. I loved him because he was mad and not predictable, but now he seems a bit stupid, even if none of them is.
I loved the old cartoon series, even if it's full of mistakes; I love the old Italian voices, but the new ones are Ok too.
The only series I hated is the one in which Turtles weren't the main characters, but disgusting things were. All brains and spots and horrible DNA freaks in computer graphics took the scene all time. Blah!
I am waiting to watch the movie "Out of shadows" or whatever is the title... Frankly I don't remember, but I am waiting for it. ^_^

I've played the Famicom version of that Turtles game. Although we call the Famicom "NES" here. I've seen clips of the computer versions of it and yeah, they don't look great. Sometimes the NES version was a struggle to play XD
I haven't seen any of the new TMNT movies but I do have fond memories of the old ones. Especially the first one. Yeah, it's far from perfect but it's got a lot of charm behind it.
Same for the old cartoon. The mistakes actually add to its charm. I used to find those mistakes funny to point out even as a kid. Like when one characters would open his mouth and someone else's voice came out. Or they'd give the turtles the wrong colored masks.
I don't remember that series with the DNA freaks. Doesn't sound like I'm missing much
I haven't seen "Out of the shadows" but I haven't heard a lot great things about it.

You know, I find some difficulties in names, because we call NES simply "The Nintendo". I also heaed about NES, but probably you pronounce it differently (En E Es), while we say "NES" as you may pronounce "Nessie" of Lochness :-D
However, on Commodore 64 we had the same game we could find on the Nintendo Nes, but there were some details missing. On the Nintendo, you could get in a room ten times, and you could find every time a new pizza slice, so you could heal all your Turtles... a thing you could not do on C64. ^_^
The new movie I saw and the other CG ones are good; oldest ones have the same dubbing team of the first cartoon series.
I also know that original Turtles were all red and really violent... I am not so curious about this story, you know, but one day or another I have to take a look at it.
As a kid I did not notice any mistake. I found that drawings weren't always really good, but it was Ok: it was a great cartoon. Once we recorded one or two on a WHS. I remember there was a sorta of mer-man or triton, another DNA-engeneered being; in that episode, even April risked to become a sea-creature, and she took it this way: "Call me Tina Tuna!!!" This sounds almost the same in Italian, so I could translate it easily. "Chiamatemi Tina Tonno!!!" :-D
Yeah, you did not miss anything good. In an episode Michelangelo (and which one? my old favorite, of course!) finds himself FUSED with a cursed car; this freaky thing runs and bites and brings havok everywhere... I don't remember anything more. At the end of the episode, our Turtle was out of this nightmare, but happy and healthy. :-/
Some days ago I read on a magazine this movie was programmed for that evening; when I tuned on the right channel, there was another movie. ._. It happens too often, and too much for a TV full of ads and boring as long teleshopping programs.

We say NES like that too XD
I never played other versions of the game. I didn't even know there were others until I saw footage of them on youtube.
Good you liked the the newer Turtle movie. I've yet to see any of them.
I used to notice some of the mistakes as a kid and would think it was funny. It became part of the fun and charm of the show for me.
Wow, that episode sounds pretty crazy. Even for Ninja Turtles.
Yes, that happens a lot. Even in today's age of digital TV with channel guides built into them, that mistake can still happen.
