Description I started drawing this when I was ill and stuck in bed for three weeks. Once I got better I just never got round to finishing it, but kind of felt it should stay the way it is.

(13-06-05) Okay, so this has been removed from scraps and added to my gallery, =darksideofthemoon420 wouldn't have it any other way, good lady

It's one of those pieces, I made it when I was ill and I got better before I completed it. That was ten years ago so I wouldn't dare touch it now. To me it's complete as it is.
Thanks for the comment

Fair enough. I guess I'll have to let this one slide

Having seen the color version, I think I like this one better. It's more... threatening and I can see the faces more clearly. Very neat.

Yeah, the colour one was really to satisfy everyone elses curiosity, I never ever intended to touch the original, and ten years is a long time to go messing with something which already seemed complete, so I painted onto a copy not the original *phew*!! This is still and probably always will be one of the drawings I am most proud of.
Thanks for your comment

I love this one!! Your technique is so uniformed and the way you humanized the tree is great! I am glad that you did not give up.

Do you know that in the old times, people used to take small wooden sticks and poke at the places where they had a pain... (toothake for example)... Then they hammered this little stick into a tree , and the thrre would "suck up" their pain.... The trees would (according to folklore) then become filled with twists, turns and "boulders"...
It was also said, that if you cut down such a tree you would "release" the pain and illnesses, and get them yourself... So people were very careful not to hurt those speacial trees...

I think the pixies introduced that "knowing" into the human domain so people wouldn't cut down there houses...

Nice drawing btw...

That's a great folklore! Cheers for telling me that. Maybe that's why there are so many twisted trees in the world

I tell you what, it will be in the next few days!!! When I first joined DA I was on dial up and could only put small images on here because it took so long to upload them. But now that I have broadband I'm gradually going through the gallery and making them bigger.
Cheers for the lovely comment

This piece is definitly fullview must, have you seen my club on this subject, the fullviewcrew, check us out if you are intrested, you have a really great looking gallery who deservs much more attention and by joining clubs you could do just that. You are invited anyway to come have a look

DragonTreasureArt In reply to DiGiTALMAGiC [2005-10-07 17:17:10 +0000 UTC]

Funnily enough I sent the fullviewcrew a note to join a couple of days ago!!! Full view is essential. Because my screen size isn't great, sometimes I can't see the whole image in full view, so I always check out the standard one first and then full view to look at the detail. It's one of the best functions on DA.... I've looked at quite a few of the pieces in your club and they are fantastic. I didn't realise you were in charge of that, excellent! Please definitely count me in.... Actually I'll go stick the eyeball logo on my sig now!

I will add you up as a member directly, welcome aboard. Yeah itΒ΄s me and another one called Duck-Star whoΒ΄s in charge of the club, we started out 1 of may 2005 and as you maybe have seen we are now about 5500 views and over 100 members, so itΒ΄s a fast growing club sadly Duck-Star has been away all summer and I havent had the time I wanted to expand the club even furthermore, but now heΒ΄s back and we are really excited to see what the club will go from here.

Oh that's great! DA is such a lovely community. Everyone is so friendly, and it's such an inspiring site.
I think the full view crew was a great idea.... I do feel very sorry for the poor folk still on dial up though. When I had dial up I used to have to wait up to five minutes for one image to load full view. Really exasperating! God bless broadband, that's all I can say

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

DiGiTALMAGiC In reply to DragonTreasureArt [2005-10-09 15:23:48 +0000 UTC]

Yes, but at the same time its to the cost of us high speeders, dunno what speed you have but i have a 10/10Mbit connection, and still i have to wait many times for the page to be loaded because of the high serverload on DA, 15millΒ΄s of high quality pictures I guess takes time to load Hmmmm, what i ment was that sometimes it doesnt matter if you are on dialup sometimes you just have to wait. I rather prefer that the dialupΒ΄s changed their source to a better internet supplier and thought perhaps a extra time of getting broadband or something with more speed. But I dont know how the Internet situation is in US for example, I do know on the other hand that for example Norway thatΒ΄s my neighbour country they dont have the same possibility with getting highspeed broadband as I do know in Sweden, when i lived in Norway the normal fastest internet was 8/1Mbit and in the same time in sweden you get 100/10Mbit for a lower cost. Well maybe I got to techniqual & off topic now, but just ask if you dont understand

DA is great, in many ways too. I like the thing that not only do you get inspired by something, you can ask the artist how he/she/it did it and if you are really into it you can ask for advice, show it back to the one you got inspired of and ask for suggestions or just simply tribute it. So many possibilities and so much fun people to ask for help and show your support too. I love it

Ok I confess, sometimes I talk to much

Hahaha!! That's not a problem, I am well known for writing essays without meaning to!
Yeah I think that's a lovely part of the community spirit, that people are willing to share ideas and advise. It's really nice. At school and university, everyone was so secretive about their work, always worried someone was going to steal their ideas, which is ridiculous to me, because we all steal from history and art of the past, but it's not stealing if you add your own unique touch. Does that make sense??
It's nice that ervyone here works together, and I always like looking at collaborations too.

DiGiTALMAGiC In reply to DragonTreasureArt [2005-10-09 16:26:05 +0000 UTC]

Yes, it makes alot of sense. Its fun to share ideas with people becuase that is the easiest way to progress, atleast thatΒ΄s my opinion and collabs is also a great way to evolve as a artist. An idea needΒ΄s a echo to be heard, otherwise itΒ΄s just a sound without noise. I love feedback in both directions and da gives me alot of this, thatΒ΄s why i like da.

Have you done any collabs with someone?

I've done collabs with people but not in DA, mainly when I was at uni, and most of the time they were mosaic collabs. I really enjoy working with someone else, even more so if their style is very different from my own, as both artists have to consciously compromise and alter their style, and can end up creating something totally unexpected.

Thankyou! I drew this ten years ago, but I'm still really fond of it I keep thinking of new images I could do with the tree people but I don't think I want to disturb them really. They've been sleeping for a long time in my mind, maybe I should let them be
