(there's a summary way down there, keep scrolling, no need to suffer for details <''3)

     When it rains, it pours. It all started as an extended vacation to go visit his girlfriend, Evie , at her fancy new stable. And in a Ty  fashion, he broke his arm. Because he wasn't going to be riding for a while and Evie didn't mind the company, Ty hung around while his arm healed. As he started getting a little better, he had Risky  shipped over just so he could start getting them both warmed up to start hitting the show ring again!
     Everything was turning up great~! He was just about due to get the cast off (and he had been working over small jumps anyway). It was one of those early spring mornings where the weather was still sharp and cold but it was probably going to be perfect weather in the afternoon. Ty wanted to spend it with Evie after she got her "business lady" stuff done with. Maybe they'd go for a ride, maybe they'd have a Taco Bell picnic in the flower field that was starting to bloom.
     While he was preoccupied daydreaming, he about had a heart attack, feeling one of Risky's legs come out from under her like she slipped in mud or something. The mare stumbled to catch herself and in doing so made a sort of huff and grunt and toppled over. It was rare for Risky to lose her balance even with his less-than-graceful jumping style. Sure, they had fallen over a few times but that had been after a jump or turning too tight at a canter. They had just been trotting along!
     Ty got to his feet first, dusting his side off and looking over Risky with concern as she was still down. Risky groaned, leaning her head forward, folding her legs closer to her belly. She flapped her tail in the sand with a look on her face that said "ow" how her ears tipped back and her nostrils strained. And just as Ty took a concerned step closer, the stoic mare forced herself to her feet with a might heave and another loud grunt.
     "You okay, Riskers?" Ty asked skeptically. "Hey, hey, take it easy," he got a hold of her reins and made her stop the second he saw the heavy limp on her front end. "Let's just relax a sec," he stroked her neck, staring down at the leg she was holding up. The first thing his eyes strained to see was what many horseman feared; the dreaded broken leg. At her age, no way would it be reasonable for her to recover from one. Ty was pretty sure his heart had stopped beating. Breathing wasn't even an idea. Nothing looked wrong. Nothing sticking out. He looked where she had slipped and there was nothing obvious. Just regular arena footing that had never caused her to do that before. He ran his hand down her leg and didn't feel anything off.
     Turned out she had suffered the horseman's second fear: she had ruptured a tendon. A clean tear. She had just taken the "wrong step" and like a bad rubber band, it snapped. The vet attributed it to a combination of her age coupled with the colder temperatures, making it tighter and more likely to get injured. It had all just been bad timing. The wrong step, the wrong strain, and down she went. The good news, it was highly likely she would recover just fine with a lot of rest. The bad news, it was going to take months. Naturally, to Ty, that wasn't even a question. She'd get what she needed even if she could never jump again. Risky meant more to him than being able to compete again.
     Fast forward to late fall, after receiving all the care in the world - huuuuge benefit of having a very wealthy girlfriend with a lot of connections in the horse world to get some of the best vets to work on Risky (sometimes Ty didn't even realize she had because it wasn't like Risky was some multi-million dollar world champion horse...but Evie didn't like seeing a sad/worried Ty). Risky was finally able to get back to work. She was a stoic horse. To say she was looking forward to getting back to work was a misconception but she was over the whole "getting doted on constantly" thing. She wanted to get back to her regular Ty and Risky time; a routine she was very familiar with and it was her kind of vibe.
     Before long, they were back over jumps again - SMALL jumps. Ty was a little gun shy, no doubt. He didn't want to push her too far, too fast. With colder weather approaching, he was way more conscious than ever before about leg wraps and warm ups. He started asking a lot more questions on the matter. He owed it to her to take better care of his old woman.
     Evie was the one to nudge him along to get out and do more with her. It was time. She had been very healthy and looking like her old self - better even! Find something fun, she would encourage him! And Ty knew he should. Something that didn't matter if they did bad at. Something silly and relaxed like, I dunno, pulling a sled full of pumpkins in Ireland? Why not!? So Ty finally got out of the house. He was going to take his old mare, newly recovered from a ruptured tendon, himself, recovered from a broken arm, travel across the globe, and go pull some pumpkins on a sled of wood. WHY NOT??

(934 wordcount)

tldr summary;
--Ty broke his arm - recovered
--Risky ruptured her tendon - recovered
--MONTHS later, like almost a year, the two are back on the scene
--Ty chose to go be a doofus in Ireland for his return to a show lol
